    Astute class submarine HMS Agamemnon, a name closely linked to Admiral Nelson

    Britain's sixth of seven Astute-class submarines being built has officially been named Agamemnon at BAE Systems' Submarines site in Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria. She takes her name from the ancient Greek king and is due to be launched later this year, ahead of being commissioned into the Royal Navy.

    Nelson’s flagship HMS Victory to be returned to her former glory

    In 1922 she was moved to a dry dock at Portsmouth and preserved as a museum ship.

    HMS Victory, the world’s oldest commissioned warship, is to be returned to her former glory thanks to a 10-year restoration program, the Ministry of Defence announced Thursday. It will be the most extensive restoration of the 246 year old warship since she was repaired after the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 as Lord Nelson’s flagship.
