The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) approved a record number of 170 projects in 2010 totaling an estimated 12.9 billion USD, as the IDB continues to boost its efforts to help Latin American and Caribbean combat poverty and inequality, and promote sustainable growth.
Latin America is poised to expand between 5.5% and 6% this year based on the sustained improvement of commodities pirces, productivity gains and domestic market expansion, said the president of the Inter American Development Bank, IDB, Luis Alberto Moreno.
Luis Alberto Moreno was re-elected president of the Inter-American Development Bank today during a special meeting of the IDB Board of Governors at the Bank’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.
The Inter American Development Bank will be electing new President this week, but with the nomination period closed last June 26 and no names presented, Colombia’s Luis Alberto Moreno seems certain to be re-elected.
