  “The Falkland Islands belong to you, the Islanders”. The key to “Malvinas is in the hands of Islanders”

  

  Twenty years ago, this month, one of Argentina's then leading political analysts and journalist publicly admitted the Falkland Islands belong to the Islanders. Mariano Grondona had been invited to the Islands by the Legislative Council and during a gathering with locals said the famous quote, “The Falkland Islands belong to you, the Islanders”.

  “The Falkland Islands belong to you, the Islanders”, said one of Argentina’s top political analysts and journalists Mariano Grondona. Although the quote, from the Penguin News, dates back to October 1998 when he was invited to the Islands by the Falklands Legislative Council, Mr. Grondona has not betrayed the statement and reiterated his opinion.
