  Treasure explorers recover 61 tons of silver bullion in waters three miles deep

  

  Odyssey Marine Exploration said it has recovered more than 61 tons of silver bullion this month from a depth of nearly three miles. This recovery of bullion from the SS Gairsoppa, a 412-foot steel-hulled British cargo ship that sank in February 1941, consists of 1,574 silver ingots weighing about 1,100 ounces each or almost 1.8 million troy ounces in total, sets a new record for the deepest and largest precious metal recovery from a shipwreck. The silver has been transported to a secure facility in UK.

  Odyssey recovers 48 tons of silver from WW2 British ship torpedoed off Ireland

  

  Odyssey Marine Exploration Inc, a salvage specialist famous for finding the 500 million dollars Black Swan shipwreck off Portugal in 2007, said it had recovered 48 tons of silver from a British merchant ship that was torpedoed off the coast of Ireland 70 years ago.

  Artefacts from controversial 1804 wreck stored in Gibraltar returned to Spain

  

  Archaeological artefacts recovered from a controversial wreck and stored in a warehouse in Gibraltar were handed to Spanish authorities this week. The items were recovered by Odyssey Marine Exploration in 2007 from the wreck of “Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes”, a Spanish galleon that sank off Portugal in 1804.
