The Búzios Field in the Santos Basin, the largest ultra-deepwater facility of that kind worldwide, produced 1 billion barrels of oil in March, the state-owned company Petrobras announced this week, Agencia Brasil reported. Petrobras operates the field in a consortium with Pré-Sal Petróleo (PPSA) and the Chinese companies CNOOC and CNODC.
Brazil's giant oil and gas corporation Petrobras this week presented its second-quarter report, which showed a drop in oil exports in a scenario of increased processing at domestic refineries.
Petrobras oil production fell 3.5% in the first quarter from the same period a year before, according to Brazil’s oil regulator ANP, which attributed the fall to a number of scheduled and unscheduled stoppages.
Petrobras’s oil production in Brazil averaged 2.16 MMboe/d in May, its fifth highest monthly figure to date. The growth was due mainly due increases from the company’s pre-salt fields, with new wells connected to the FSPO Cidade de Maricá serving the Lula field in the Santos basin.
State-controlled oil giant Petrobras, which is mired in a corruption scandal that has rocked Brazil, said Monday it was cutting investment by 37% during the 2015-2019 period. Investment during the period will now total $130.3 billion, down from the $220.6 billion originally planned, Petrobras said in a filing with the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
Brazil’s Petrobras said that oil production in Santos and Campos basin pre-salt fields reached a milestone production volume of 800Mbbl/d. The volume was recorded on April 11, with 74% (590Mbbl/d) Petrobras’ share with the remainder belonging to partner companies working in different pre-salt areas.
