    Two New York pet cats test positive for COVID-19; no evidence of animal-human contagion

    The cats, from separate areas of New York state, had mild respiratory illness and are expected to make a full recovery.

    Two cats in New York have become the first pets in the United States to test positive for the new coronavirus but there is no evidence pets can spread the virus to humans, according to US health authorities.

Following confirmation that the dog’s owner was positive for the virus causing COVID-19, the dog was taken from Hong Kong Island to a nearby animal quarantine facility. Subsequent tests performed on swabs collected from the dog’s nose and throat unexpectedly revealed coronavirus.

    Tasmania “fairy” penguins mauled to death by dogs

    According to a local wildlife expert, the birds attacked earlier this week were returning to their nests for the start of breeding season

    Australian Wildlife officials are investigating a suspected dog attack in Tasmania, after 58 penguins were found mauled to death. A member of the public alerted rangers to the dozens of penguin bodies strewn across a beach on the north coast of Australia's island state.
