  South Georgia: Yacht Charter to support wandering albatross surveys

  

  In 2024, the Government of South Georgia & the South Sandwich Islands (GSGSSI) will be undertaking a census of wandering albatross on South Georgia alongside various complementary terrestrial monitoring activities. To support this, GSGSSI requires to charter a yacht. We invite operators to tender for the provision of this service.

  Argentina demands UK flagged vessels with toothfish licenses in South Georgia be listed as IUU

  

  British flagged fishing vessels are illegally operating in South Georgia waters, with illegitimate licenses awarded by the United Kingdom, and outside of the multilateral agreement which rules operations in those fisheries, according to a formal complaint from the Argentine foreign ministry made public.

  Russia triggers toothfish conflict between US and UK over catch quotas in South Georgia

  

  A diplomatic row over fish has broken out between the UK and US in response to provocations from Russia. The feud could lead to an import ban on Patagonian toothfish, also known as Chilean sea bass, which US officials claim is being caught illegally near Antarctica, according to an information from Associated Press.
