  Presidents Milei and Peña review bilateral issues at Casa Rosada

  Paraguayan President holds phone conversation with Milei

  

  Paraguayan President Santiago Peña and Argentina's President-elect Javier Milei held a telephone conversation Monday during which they discussed bilateral issues. The Libertarian economist extended an invitation to Peña to attend his inauguration on Dec. 10 in Buenos Aires, which was accepted.

  Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff will inaugurate on Tuesday in Paraguay next to his peer Horacio Cartes a high voltage transmission line from the world's largest operational hydroelectric dam Itaipú to metropolitan Asuncion, capital of the landlocked country and which was financed with Mercosur funds.

  Paraguay on Independence Day blasts Argentina and Brazil over “power resource exploitation”

  

  President Federico Franco said Paraguay has long cancelled its debts for the construction of two huge shared hydroelectric dams with its powerful neighbours and demanded Argentina pay for the surplus energy it receives and compensation for flooding Paraguayan territory.

  Brazil reminds Paraguay that Itaipu power is jointly shared and managed

  

  Brazil reminded Paraguay it can use the power it needs from the giant Itaipu hydro but there is a contract which regulates how to manage the surplus. A day earlier president Federico Franco said that Paraguay would not “yield” any more electricity to Brazil.
