    Uruguay and the United States signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Wednesday in Montevideo, whereby the two countries will create a working group on new technologies to deepen government-private cooperation. The South American country was found to be “an ideal partner” for the administration of President Joseph Biden.

    Uruguayan Senator Adrián Peña was killed Thursday in a head-on car crash in the department (province) of Canelones on Route 36. He had actively represented his country as the first Environment Minister at the Glasgow 2021 Conference of Parties. He was forced to resign amid a scandal involving his college degree (or lack thereof) in January last year, after which he effectively took his Senate seat on Jan. 30, 2023.

    Uruguay and DEA sign new cooperation deal

    The Government of Uruguay represented by Interior Minister Nicolás Martinelli and the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) signed a “memorandum of cooperation” in Washington DC Wednesday whereby the South American country will receive help fighting trafficking.
