Former Falklands Wreck Saved -- Again! Seven Million Pound Grant for SS Great Britain
The most precious survivor of Britain's merchant maritime heritage, the steamship Great Britain, rescued and taken back to Bristol from the Falkland Islands in 1970, has been saved from ruin by a big seven-million pound (ten-and-a-half million dollar) grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. This will go a long way towards the estimated ten-million pounds(fifteen-million dollars) required to restore and preserve her from her present sad state of deterioration in her original dock at Bristol where parts of the vessel have rotted away.

Sir Robin Christopher, former Ambassador in Jakarta and Addis Ababa has been appointed as new Ambassador in Argentina. He will replace William Mardsen who is retiring from the diplomatic service and will be leaving Argentina next month.
Sir Robin Christopher will take his post next November. -

Sir Robin Christopher KCMG has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Argentine Republic in succession to William Marsden who will be retiring from the Diplomatic Service. Sir Robin will take up his new appointment in November.

Falklands Freezer Plant Initiative.
A new freezer processing plant for the Falkland Islands costing nearly a quarter of a million pounds (more than 320,000 dollars) will boost international exports and coincidentally provide valuable earnings for farmers facing hardship because of depressed wool prices.
