Chile considers that the collaboration given to Britain during the Falklands' conflict in 1982 happened in another historic context and does not anticipate apologizing, said Wednesday Chilean Defence Minister Jaime Ravinet.
The book "revives events which occurred over twenty years ago, many of them known in our country and which happened in another historic context, when both countries were ruled by military dictatorships", added Mr. Ravinet.
Chilean Defence Secretary currently in Washington said that the Chilean government "has taken very seriously the book on The Official History of the Falklands' Campaign", recently edited in London based on British archives and which shows details of Chilean cooperation with the British during the 1982 war.
When asked if Chile is thinking of a "mea culpa" regarding events of 1982, Mr. Ravinet replied that "some of the events are questionable others are already part of the history of our countries and don't add anything new".
According to Sir Lawrence Freedman's book "Chile's cooperation facilitated victory" for the British over the Argentine forces.
