The Argentine government is studying the adoption of legal and diplomatic measures following the launching in Britain of the book, The official history of the Falklands campaign, written by Professor of War Studies and Vice-Principal of King's College London, Sir Lawrence Freedman.
According to a release from the Argentine Foreign Affairs Ministry the book "is based exclusively on British sources".
Sir Lawrence Freedman was tasked by the British government to write the book on the 1982 Falkland Islands conflict and had access to previously secret documents. The two volumes edition took eight years to compile.
The official Argentine release establishes that "given the publication and official presentation in London of the book "The Official History of the Falklands Campaign", the Argentine government wishes to express that the book conceived from the British perspective regarding the controversy over the "Islas Malvinas, Georgias del Sur y Sandwich del Sur and the surrounding maritime spaces", and the "South Atlantic Conflict", is based almost exclusively on British sources".
"The Argentine government has began an in depth study of the before mentioned document to analyze the events described and adopt the legal and diplomatic measures which are pertinent so as to preserve the Republic of Argentina's position regarding the question of the Islas Malvinas, Georgias del Sur y Sandwich del Sur and the surrounding maritime spaces".
The release ends saying that "the Argentine government reaffirms its legitimate sovereignty rights over the Islas Malvinas, Georgias del Sur and Sandwich del Sur and the surrounding maritime spaces".
