Royal Navy disaster relief exercise of cruise in S. Atlantic

Battling her way through 800 miles of ferocious seas between the Falkland Islands and South Georgia, the Royal Navy Atlantic South patrol and an auxiliary vessel carried out this month a disaster relief exercise based around a typical South Atlantic cruise vessel visiting South Georgia and which supposedly had ran aground in deteriorating weather.

The meeting follows on the United Kingdom's recent announcement that it's considering claiming continental shelf rights off Antarctica

FIFA recommend Brazil's bid to host 2014 World Cup

Brazil is the only country in the running to host the 2014 World Football Cup competition, which is set to be staged in South America due to Fifa's rotation system. Inspectors have sent a report to the Fifa executive committee indicating their approval, and a decision will be announced next Tuesday.

Chile announced funding for reopening of Antarctic base

Magallanes Region government, in the extreme south of Chile announced plans this week to reopen the “Arturo Prat” Antarctic base on Greenwich Island in Chile's Antarctic territory. UK ratifies no Gib sovereignty talks without people's consent

Chilean sovereignty from “Arica to the Southern Pole”
