Paraguayan president manages to defuse institutional crisis

The Paraguayan Senate managed on Thursday to defuse an institutional stand off which threatened the stability of the recently inaugurated government of President Fernando Lugo. With a simple majority the ruling collation disbarred former president Nicanor Duarte who insisted in occupying a seat for which he had been elected.

Furious stranded commuters torch trains in Buenos Aires

Angry commuters have set fire to train carriages on Thursday in metropolitan Buenos Aires to protest morning rush hour delays. The police reported several arrests and the Argentine government blamed leftist activists for the incidents.

Madonna's tour includes second show in Santiago

A second Madonna show with her “Sticky and Sweet” tour has been confirmed in Santiago de Chile for December 11. Her first presentation is scheduled for Wednesday December 10 and for both shows there will no special ticket pre-sale, with a maximum of six per person. Sales begin next September 10.
