Argentina and every country in the Americas, do not like or want any European colony in our continent . Like I said before Arg-UK old dispute over the islands is in the best interest of US gov. to get it resolved. So do not get jealous if you don't get any attention or visit....as a matter of fact get used to it.

Why on earth do you think it's in the US interest to get involved over the Falkland islands? They have their own 'old' colonial situations and would not appreciate Britain getting involved in their affairs. They will stay well out of it. You will notice that on your Foreign Ministers recent visit to the US no mention was made of the Falkland Islands. Clinton's been put right.

False hope is much the same as no hope :-)

As for “...every country in the America's...” , ..... so what?

#3 “You will notice that on your Foreign Ministers recent visit to the US no mention was made of the Falkland Islands”
Not in public, true, behind doors....

“The Obama administration has declared U.S. neutrality on the dispute, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has offered to mediate. Britain promptly rejected the offer, and the British press attacked Clinton for handing Argentina a ”propaganda coup.“ But by this time Britain was looking alone and out of touch. The Latin leaders denouncing Britain for imperialist overreach ranged from Hugo Chávez, the brazen Venezuelan, to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the moderate who has made Brazil the China of Latin America—an emerging economic superpower that Britain can't afford to insult.”

Sorry Marco, I didn't know that you were privvy to what went on 'behind closed doors'. Using a quote from an older report to support your contention is a little disingenious however.

I may also be privvy to what goes on behind closed doors, and my information is that Argentina was not given a shred of support or indeed anything that could be used to embarrass the USA again in the press.

Having Hugo Chavez on your side is NO way to impress the north.

    Who loves ya, baby :-)

Just a small point in Margo's “report”. Having a large economy is not the same as being an “economic superpower”. With absolutely no wish to decry Brazil's achievements, they are light years from even being a power. The idea that it is somewhere that “Britain can't afford to insult” is so laughable it must have been written by an Argentine loony.

Harrier, Brazil isn't a military super power , but an economic super power who cannot be ignored by the Brits. They have a long way to go, they know that, and soon or later they will surpass you.. the British government knows that...so do we here in the US. Talking about military super power, guess what neither are you Brits in that list, without being backed up by us, the United States of America.

    Nicholas you do talk crap
its a well known fact the 19th century belong to the British
the 20th century belong to the USA
And the 21st century will belong to china, that’s a fact.
brazil is a growing power, [and that’s all]
the British have never been afraid to fight or stand up to anyone in her history, win or lose, is not the point, the point is [was it right]
the chances of brazil and the uk, going to war are zero, and that includes the next 200years as well. so people like you that imagines great things from no existent things just wont happen, south America is no danger to world peace, or any danger to the uk. any other trouble if any will come either from [china] but unlikely, or north Korea and Iran, or possibly Israel or Somalia, as for south America [our interest] the Falklands will remain in British hands for at least the next 50 years, beyond that I don’t know, but please don’t make brazil into something it does not need or want, unless argentine does something about the Falklands soon, then it will NEVER do nothing, and she is a bigger danger or embarrassment to brazil than anyone .???????????/

Thats because the only military superpower is the US, it's a short list. Certainly within the top five in the world, other nations just can't project power.

And as for being backed up, We like your help, just like you enjoy ours. We are perfectly willing and capable enough to defend ourselves.

@8 Nicholas. As briton says - you do talk crap. I certainly didn't mention military super power. But as for economic power. Well, Britain's GDP was last assessed as $2,139 trillion with a population slightly in excess of 62 million. For the same period, Brazil's GDP was assessed as $2,013 trillion with a population of approx. 192,250,000. I guess that's why Britain's GDP per capita is 3 times that of Brazil. As I said, long way to go. Long, long, long way to go.
But, on the subject of being a military super power, why is it that the U.S. doesn't like getting in to anything unless it has Britain on-side?
But I'll take your word about Brazil. So, the next time you want to go and have a fight somewhere around the world, take the Brazilians instead of the Brits.
