With only two months to go before the first cruise ship arrives in the Falkland Islands for the 2010/11 season the situation is looking increasingly positive.
An initial prediction of 58 visits to Stanley may this season in reality be closer to 75 (according to the latest schedule) while the smaller expedition ships are planning almost 100 outer island visits. Read full article

illegally occupied by UK since 1833.
Our Governor Mr. Alan Huckle, former Governor of Anguilla, Welcomes you!

I believe that they are, in fact, met by a large sign saying, ” Welcome to the Falkland islands ... a(nother) little slice of Britain in the south Atlantic ... impervious to jumped up banana Republics ...... but watch out for Argentines and penguin shit - both tend to get stuck underfoot”

So, how's the economic blockade going?
Considering that is just the beginning not bad at all, thanks for asking.

What blockade ?
You must be referring to our Denial of Services.................
Quite well thank you.
New Merco/Unasur initiative on the way. More than words this time, we have been told....
Next official push at Big Brother's house in September. Nohing exiting there....
Crossing our fingers for more good news from your side: More dusters and a bad flow test with 99% wax on it :-)
Old news again Marco ... I understand from the Islander posters here that supply ships had arrived since Spinks' comments on the local radio. Still can't hear any screams of anquish from the starving islanders.
Aug 26th, 2010 - 05:15 am - Link - Report abuse 0Last I heard they were looking into the financing of a deep sea port and worrying over a population explosion.
If Rockhopper's oil flows, the islanders will struggle to cope with the number of ships that'll be heading their way.
One step at the time....
Aug 26th, 2010 - 06:08 am - Link - Report abuse 0As the honorable Emma has declared at the Assembly you can get a lettuce for 6£ and an orange for 1.95£ :-0
Somebody is making a lot of money.......
Interesting how most of the Argenitnes think that the rest of South America is backing them. Sure they have verbal support but which county did the Ocean Guardian call into on her way down to the Islands - that would be Brazil.
Aug 26th, 2010 - 09:51 am - Link - Report abuse 0I prefer actions rather than words, words have no value it is actions that pay the $.
Couldn't help but notice the Money Week headline in the header ad on Marco's link in 3.
Aug 26th, 2010 - 09:57 am - Link - Report abuse 0It reads Argentina Bankruptcy The credit crunch claims its biggest victim - Argentina!
Oops...
Marco and others- what blockade? Correct there was a break in trade with S America but that was mor due to shipcharter reasons than politics-so for a while some fresh items must have run out of stock and come in by airfreight instead- did you not know air is more costly than sea!! Politics has made it difficult to now trade direct with southern Chile but ships are running again to S America with goods arriving from at least THREE countries! Our Emma and her Councillor father do like to shop at the most expensive outlet here! I think you will find that Argentina,s aggression has hit some innocent Chileans in southern Chile - NOT us Islanders- we were a bit inconvienenced for a while - some Chileans have now lost their jobs and businesses thank to you lot.
Aug 26th, 2010 - 01:36 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Sorry guys, I lied. As Argentines, we are an impoverished nation. God Help Us.
Aug 26th, 2010 - 04:40 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The sign says Welcome to the FALKLAND ISLANDS, all it needs to.
Aug 26th, 2010 - 04:58 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Sorry to break it to you guys but no one noticed that Argentina spit its dummy out. Second newsflash, the Argentine pre-occupation with its spurious irredentist claim is not the be all and end all on the islands. There is plenty more interesting things about the islands. There really is no need to post nonsense on every thread.
It really is getting tedious. Particularly has neither of you has the cajones to address those awkward questions.
You're Catholics, aren't you? Followers of the Anti-Christ.
