Argentine President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner travels Monday to South Korea in order to take part in the Heads of State Group of Twenty (G-20) Summit that will be held Thursday and Friday in Seoul.

This will be the first time the President travels abroad after the demise of her husband, former president Néstor Kirchner.

Fernández de Kirchner is scheduled to speak at the financial round of talks, as well as to participate in the heads of state special plenary session.

The Argentine president has scheduled several meetings with businessmen in Korea before the G-20 begins. She is expected to deliver a speech on Argentina’s current situation and prospects.

Regarding what can be expected from G-20, she said “it’s a matter of achieving some cooperation, because what we are seeing so far in a great war of currencies, a war of competition, a war to see who can best sell its goods and basically how to push the crisis to thy neighbour”.

“We all have to go with an open mind and deliver what each of us believes are global policies. The same with global capital movements, risk rating agencies and countries with secret bank accounts. We have to try and make that huge amount of money to return to the real economy”.

Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is also scheduled to visit the National Museum of Korea, where she is expected to be received by her counterpart, Lee Myung-bak.

Argentine Economy Minister Amado Boudou and Economy Deputy Minister Roberto Feletti will escort her during the event the South Korean head is to deliver for the attendees.
