Leading Latinamerican corporations and European investors will be participating in Madrid at the XII Latibex three-day forum organized by Spain’s securities markets.
The forum will address the evolution of corporations in Latinamerica and Spain based on the experience and prospects of the estimated thirty Latinamerican corporations that have shares in Madrid’s stock exchange, BME.
Antonio Zoido, president of BME will open the meeting and will be followed by presentations from Spain’s main international corporations in telecommunications, energy, finance and banking.
Latinamerican investment challenges particularly in Chile and Mexico will follow with an open debate among participants.
On Thursday experts are scheduled to debate on the significance of China to promote demand in Latinamerica with a main speech from Australian Greg Tanzer head of the International Organization of Securities Commissions, IOSCO.
Chief economists from Santander Bank Latinamerica Jose Juan Ruiz and Bradesco, Octavio de Barros will address the Brazilian economy opportunities. A debate on sustainable development and domestic demand will follow.
On the last day, access to financing and banks both for corporations and individuals will be considered as well as analysis of the Community of Andean nations.
Conclusions at the closing ceremony are to be presented by Inter American Development Bank president Luis Alberto Moreno and the CEO of Spain’s main corporation in the region, Telefonica Latinamerica’s Javier Santiso.
Latinamerica together with Asia are the regions which best weathered and recovered from the global slowdown. According to IMF Latinamerica is forecasted to expand 6% in 2011 following a year of record growth in several of the region’s countries.
