The Paraguayan Executive sent this week to congress a bill requesting the incorporation of Venezuela to Mercosur. Paraguay’s legislative confirmation is the last step to complete the long process, begun in 2006, for Venezuela to become a full member of the South American block currently made up of Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay. The Union of South American Nations ..... is an intergovernmental union integrating two existing customs unions: Mercosur and the Andean Community of Nations, as part of a continuing process of South American integration. It is modeled on the European Union ....... The group announced their intention to model the new community after the European Union including a common currency, parliament, and passport. According to Allan Wagner Tizón, former Secretary General of the Andean Community, a complete union like that of the EU should be possible by 2019........

Have you seen how well the EU is operating these days ?
:-)
Without the EU, Europe would surely be in a much deeper crisis and quite probably on its way to a War……………..as sooooo many times before in its history.

Thanks for your concern :-)
Think, you may not like Redhoyt's opinion when it comes to the Falklands/Malvinas discussion, but he is right on this. South Americans better pay attention to what happens inside the so called utopia EU / tower of babel..one nation, many languages. The EU is on fire and it's prove that in a crisis, it's each nation for them self. It won't work either in South America. As I typed before here, The Guyana's (Guyana and Suriname) totally different culture, different mindset, majority of the latin american speaks Spanish, but don't always understand each other, besides, different cultures and mindset, and then you have Brazil, a totally different Latin american nation, many culture(s), interests and biggest economy. Don't you think they want the power and do you think they are willing to give up their power so that another nation decides for them if their is a crisis? We all know that they won't. If Unasul/Unasur is just a sort of mini OAS, and if Mercosul/Mercosur is just a trade framework, than it should be fine, but if it's really the framework to create an European Union, you are doomed to get burned like what is now happening in the EU.
