Peru Recognises Palestine as a State

Peruvian Foreign Minister Jose Antonio Garcia Belaunde meeting with the representative of the Palestine National government recognised Palestine as an “independent and sovereign state,” reported the Peruvian state news agency Andina.

Speaking at a meeting which took place in Lima at the national museum launching the Heads of States Summit and Government of Southern Arab States Forum (ASPA), Garcia Belaunde said this will not affect ties with Israel.

The foreign minister explained this will not upset relations with Israel because “ever since the 40s, Peru’s position has been to recognise Palestine and the Hebrew State.”

Following his declarations Garcia Belaunde used a communiqué in which he referred to Palestine as “independent and sovereign” adding that the Peruvian government policy is “in favour of policies which peacefully solve controversy.”

Other South American countries to recognise Palestine are Brasil, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.

No; there's only the recognition that the old approach to the Palestine issue doesn't work.

I was being sarcastic, but i agree, Palestine appears to be the one trying the most. I even found some Palestine products in the co-op, some really nice olice oil, nice to see some inititives working in the west bank for the farmers there.
