It is the Spanish who are proclaiming that this meeting is about Gibraltar ... typically this is for Spanish consumption.

Having said that, in the same building, at the same time the Lib Dem Euro MP for Gibraltar, Graham Watson, will be meeting Gibraltar’s Minister – David Liddington. Just the other side of the door in case Spain tries to discuss something that the Gibraltarians would wish to be involved in!

“ ... The Royal Navy will continue to provide maritime presence in Gibraltar to protect British sovereignty and control of British Gibraltar Territorial Waters....”

    And elsewhere too :-)

    #3 “Stingray!”

    Sorry, location fail.
Stingray was set in the fictional city Marineville, located in California. It was the flagship of WASP (the World Aquanaut Security Patrol).

Assuming NicoDin is meaning Argentina invading the Falklands (as he is one-dimensional so I am most likely correct), I like how he assumed that each invasion attempt would be defeated by the British, thus requiring 20 invasions. Finally some reality from the Argentines!

without help she cant do anything,
but stand on the sidelines and throw dirt at us,
watching all that money just sail by.

    Yes, nico.

Without gaining air superiority the landing ships(which you need in order to land troops) would not be able to reach the islands without first being sunk by anti ship missiles. It's not really possible for Argentina to gain air superiority over the islands with the aircraft you currently have.

Another option is to land troops by submarine and take the base with special forces. The likely ness of 100 to 150 lightly armed special forces taking a well armed and equipped military base with over 1500 staff there with heavy equipment and air support is very, very slim... especially since they would have only 24 to 48 hours before getting heavy reinforcements.

The only option i can honestly see working is if Argentina literally just threw everything she had at the islands, all troops, subs, planes all at once. The losses would be substantial though i believe.

Even then it would not be a guarantee and if they are equipped with stuff like challengers and apaches they would chew your forces apart.

Wow! And what aircraft do we have? Haha,

But if I blow up the following targets first before landing (just and example) you will not have anything to fly with. And you have no idea how easy is to do the job. haha

”But if I blow up the following targets first before landing (just and example) you will not have anything to fly with.”

And with what exactly would you blow these up with?

In real life, nico. Things dont blow up just because you would like them to. You would require a missile system capable of hitting + destroying the target from your mainland.

You don't have such a system. And even if you had the destroyer in the area has an anti missile system. The RN being the only navy in history to ever take out a missile in combat with another missile.

And please dont come back with rubbish like you're anthrax the base personally or bomb it yourself. No-one's buying it.

You should be very smart Mr. Zethee.

You can mock the seadart. But it's the only missile in the world that's been proven to be able to shoot down an incoming missile in combat.

The sea dart's use in an anti-missile role was first seen in 1991, where it shot down an Iraqi silkworm missile aimed at USS Missouri.

The problem about Mach 3+ antiship missiles is that there aren't very many of them out there, and the (few) countries that do manufacture them aren't the most arms-export-driven countries (generally having learned by supplying arms to client states, only to have them cause problems later).

Incidentally, the sea dart is scheduled to be retired (or at least all of the vessels that carry them are) by 2014, although the replacement does have a slightly better range (about 120km and twice the velocity for the long-range type, at the cost of the slightly dubious anti-surface role)
