Nobel Prize Mario Vargas Llosa has said he will speak about politics in his inaugural speech at the international book fair in Buenos Aires after a group of intellectuals tried to veto his presence in Argentina, according to the Buenos Aires media. Read full article

    Don't be too excited, he'll spout nothing but right-wing tired talking points. I've never read any of his books - I don't know whether they express any valuable thoughts. But in his political commentaries, he's quite superficial and uninteresting, an angry right-wing ideologue like so many columnists in right-wing Latin American magazines like Veja. Llosa reminds me quite a bit of the Brazilian columnist Reinaldo Azevedo.

    Though it will still be interesting to see how he responds to argentinas attempts to prohibt him from talking about his position and ideas.
