Venezuela will send Argentina 12 million barrels of diesel and fuel oil starting in May, an official from Venezuela's state oil company PDVSA said.
PDVSA trade and supplies chief Asdrubal Chavez said the Venezuelan shipments will include 9 million barrels of fuel oil and 3 million barrels of diesel.
We have a contract with Argentina to deliver some 12 million barrels of fuel annually, he told state television. This supply will begin in May.
Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez is a close ally of Argentine President Cristina Fernandez and the OPEC member nation exports fuel in return for Argentina's agricultural machinery and products such as beef and dairy.
Under an agreement signed by the two presidents last week, Argentine shipyard Tandanor will build 16 cargo ships for PDVSA.
The ships will cost 84 million US dollars PDVSA's Chavez, a cousin of the president, said. We will be able to carry our fuel, including coke, and bring back food.
