Cuba's Communist Party selected President Raúl Castro and hard-liners from the old guard to steer wide-ranging reforms of the island's crumbling economy. As expected, Raúl Castro, 79, was chosen at a four-day party congress to replace his older brother Fidel Castro as first secretary of the ruling party's Central Committee. Read full article

    Well, a lot of them are recently released from Cuban prisons where they were incarcerated for 'criticising the state'.
    A few of them are still in prison.

    These are the 'new blood' on which nations build new futures.

    Some of this blood has been, and will be, shed in the transition, but reforms come from different individuals and different ideas supplanting the old and senescent beliefs.
