“Italy’s Fiat Industrial, through its affiliate CNH, will set up a plant in Argentina to manufacture powerful combines and specialty tractors destined for the Latin American market.”

Such a pity that no South American country is able to produce these in its own factories.
. . . . All that profit leaching out and swilling away overseas.

Perhaps they ARE produced in South America by South American companies, but perhaps they are:

    inadequate (weaker r&d),
    too pricey (insufficient sales volume),
too slowly produced (skills & management issues),
    too low a specification (under-capitalised),
too small a market-base (tariff restrictions between countries),
too old-fashioned in design (complacent company policies).

It breaks your heart to see all these things that we COULD do, being offered to those from the outside, because we DON'T do.

And, for a continent where the primary economy involves agro-engineering, this is unforgivably poor planning by our governments and our trading blocs.
