Exploration in the Argentinean province could have provided 'home grown' LNG;
as natural gas deposits are showing up all over the continent, this would have saved Argentina pots & pots of money.
Remember if any gas is found in Argentina the field needs to be developed. The other thing is if any gas is found andthe field developed then Argentina can sell this gas at possibly a higher price than they are buying this lot from Qatar.

But , there again, the extraction conditions would influence the sale price.
Simplistically, it would be odd to me to see Arg. gas going north whilst Qat. gas comes south, just to get a price-difference!
A lot of effort and a lot of cost just to show on the nett balance sheet as a +.
