    There is good reason to believe that the figure (above) is between 7-20 million people too low.

    These are the illegal hispanics etc that refused to be part of the 2010 census.

    Almost by definition, and by identifying the profile of 'illegal' sub-samples, these people are also part of 'The Poor'.

    Thus, the figure for 'The Poor In America' might be twice as large as the figure given for 'The American Poor'.

    You may very well be correct. The old saying is that “figures do not lie, liars figure.” All depends on what actual figures are used and what figures are reported.
