nice toy, are you planning on invading more countries to give people the chance to be civilized and democratic while killing them and stealing their resources from them, all dressed up like Lybian civilians pretending to be civilians when in reality are soldiers? England England, you never learn! The blood of those people is in your hands.

Lovely! Equipped with lovely 80mph Spearfish torpedos and lovely Tomahawk Land Attack cruise missiles. Wonder when it will get its chance to sink something. Guess what, people. Astute-class submarines are faster submerged than anything a certain South American country has, surface or subsurface!

@ 2 I hope our countries never have one of those things, used to kill people. Are you having an orgasm looking at the picture?

    This is better than that

@1 & 3 You are in no position to comment on invasions. Shall we start with the War of Brazil (1825-28)? Then the Uruguayan Civil War (1839-52), the War of the Triple Alliance (1864-70), the Conquest of the Desert (1878-84), the Conquest of the Chaco Austral (1870-1936), Falklands War (1982).

What better use for our military equipment than destroying Argentina? You persistently breach the UN Charter and threaten 3,000 of our citizens at the same time. Be grateful for our maturity and forbearance. 300 years ago you would be dead by now. But not buried. Environmentalism, you understand. Carrion-eaters need carrion. Argentine and carrion are virtually the same word.

it has been noted that 13 September 2011

HMS Prince of Wales confirmed as the Strike Carrier of FF2020 - as i've been saying in a long time, it is Prince of Wales that gets the catapults at build. And we also have the confirmation that it is going to be EMALS.
Speaking to Jane's in the run-up to the Defence Security and Equipment International (DSEi) exhibition, held in London from 13-16 September, Dr Liam Fox said:

“We now have a slot for the EMALS catapult system being fitted. It will be fitted first of all to the Gerald R Ford , then the next slot will be for the British carrier and the next slot will be for the American John F Kennedy carrier. So we've got that confirmed from the Americans now; the Americans have successfully tested it.”

Were not the Argies talking about commissioning a range of nuclear powered subs recently. A bit of pot calling kettle there Xbox!

I suppose the difference is that Argentina talks about it while the UK actually does it.

Same rules apply for the FI and your “supporters”. They all talk about supporting you but their actions show the opposite.

    Production here we go!

Yep ARA Airfix.... only problem is the box has been lying around for a while and a few bits are missing ... such as the power plant.... and they will have to modify the engine mounts .... once they have found the sheet of instructions.....

    @9geo,
Actually geo, they are cargo subs & are going to be used to ship our oil underwater, so Argentina doesn't know what we're up to!

    what a beast !!

@13 Zethe , on the issue of the SA80, the dealer wanted 50% down and I had to wait 12 months to deliver the rifle?? I had to go the SCAR option, 5.56 mm with the option of an exchangeable barrel (actually you can make it to a 7.62 caliber), Acog scope and tan color ..... everything for 2100. What do you think??

  • zethe

I think 12 months is a long time to wait, I don't know why the SA80 is so hard to get for civilians...I guess it's because of it's terrible reputation from the older model.

I don't know anyone who's used it(or atleast mentioned using it) so i don't really know much about the rifle from what i've read seems like a good gun, much better than waiting 12 months. Looks nice too. I think the US special forces use it? or did?

@12 It's not a ship. Submarines are referred to as “boats”. Did I mention that the 80mph Spearfish torpedos have a range of between 12.5 and 30 nautical miles? Since the horizon is only 3 miles away, the sub can fire on the surface or subsurface and still can't be seen by the target. And the Tomahawk Land Attack Cruise Missiles can also be fired subsurface. Range about 1,000 miles. Speed 550 mph. Lots of goodies for anyone who wants to be a problem. There's also an anti-ship version!

We also seem to be speeding up production of the Astute-class. It was going to be one every two years. Starting in 2007. But now we've got 5 in only 4 years. And we've still got 6 Trafalgar-class, as well. They carry the same weapons. Makes you wonder if anything could stand up to the British submarine service.

The SA80, was a terrible rifle, forever jamming, gas parts would always become too clogged to operate, recoil springs would fail, firing pins would also fail. It was very prone to rust, therefore you had to clean it every day when out in the field. Ejection of empty casings would not always work, and in turn would jam the moving parts.

Now, the SA80 A2, has eliminated all of the problems that i have mentioned, all new parts were designed and strenghtened by heckler and koch.

WE , All know the sub fleet was very much reduced,
And to day [bar these being withdrawn]
We have [6] SSN – Nuclear powered attack submarines. Designed primarily to destroy other submarines but are also very effective against surface ships and when carrying Tomahawk cruise missiles, can attack land targets. [These will be replace by the astute class from this year.]
SSBN – Nuclear Powered and Nuclear armed submarines. The UK has 4 SSBNs that carry Trident inter-continental nuclear weapons, the, government is committed to their replacement and have given the go ahead for design work to begin on the new submarines.
SSK – Conventional submarines.. SSKs are smaller and cheaper than SSNs,, SSKs are operated by the majority of the world’s navies,,– as they are now obsolete the royal navy operates none of these ., its last SSKs were retired prematurely in 1994.
Astute class submarines - 7 new SSNs being built for the RN . They will probably be among the best submarines in the world,
the Royal Navy's newest, most capable Astute Class submarine has been formally announced today - HMS Anson.
Royal Navy submarine HMS Astute sails up the Clyde estuary into her home port of Faslane, Scotland , HMS Anson is the fifth in her class
. She will join HMS Astute, HMS Ambush, HMS Artful and HMS Audacious.“
The Astute Class submarines, which will progressively replace the Trafalgar Classes from this year, .
Technically they are capable of circumnavigating the globe without surfacing and with the advance of nuclear technology they never need refuelling.:
”The seven Astute Class boats, with improved firepower, and communications, and the ability to operate stealthily for extended periods.
“ including deploying Tomahawk cruise missiles and intelligence-gathering.”

underwater photography, sometimes of surface warships, who will almost certainly be unaware of the submarine's presence
    .

Sorry. Trafalgar-class has not been decommissioned.

UK has 11 nuclear-powered submarines armed with 80mph Spearfish torpedos and Tomahawk Land Attack cruise missiles.

Only one country can match this. And it isn't in South America.

Forgot to mention our 4 SSBNs. Nuclear-propelled, nuclear-armed submarines. 64 missiles. 640 warheads. Up to 10 megaton per warhead. Just 640,000 times what hit Hiroshima. Anyone think this will make the Argentine evening news?

Very good Murko. What will happen when we decline to invest in your colony? It is, after all, all you are. A rebellious colony. Here's a thought for you. Do you have a native, indigenous language? You do not. So what is Argentina? It is a colonialist, imperialist, aggressive hypocrite. But it's not important. The next aggressive move you make will result in the destruction of the eastern seaboard of South America. But only from the bottom of the continent up to the River Plate.

Anybody want to explain what positive features Argentina brings to our planet?

Anybody want to explain why they are tolerated?

Anybody want to explain the benefits of having 40 million yellow-bellied, deviant animals on our planet?
