Whatever spin Argentina will try to put on this story- This aircraft helped save lives and that needs to be respected.

It is obvious that the Falklands / malvinas are still considered highly by the British people and they are never going to forget the war, as we forgot our veterans.

This is my contention, we destroyed any hope of winning the hearts and minds of people there in 1982 and have continued to do so ever since. The British far from being bothered by our claims, must be very pleased that we have managed only to have made them am impossible dream.

I will call these islands the Falklands, if that makes you angry, it just proves what you are. Unlike almost all of my compatriots posting here, I have been to the Falklands, I know the people, they are a unique and down to earth people, very friendly and liberal and they deserve the right to their own islands, free from the kind of right wing madmen and woman that run our government and constitute the las mavlinas patriots like Think that parrot the cause regardless of right.

    @4 Benito

I think in fairness that Argentina didn't really have that much of a chance of winning the Falkland Islanders hearts and minds even before 1982.
Just look back a couple of decades to the '60s when it seemed to be the fashion for any nationalist to buy/rent/hijack planes, fly them to the Falklands, crashland, raise an Argentine flag and declare soverignty to the first person to turn up (then get arrested and deported).

In 1968 a British minister was actually on the islands trying to persuade Islanders of the advantages of an agreement with Argentina. He was, I believe, told exactly which body cavity to jam his proposed agreement up in no uncertain terms. Especially as his visit coincided with the last of these “visits”.

    Benito:
Really do not think you're Argentina, because we do not forget our veterans and even the English who were also victims of this conflict.
You forget the four British invasion we had to suffer (1806.1807.1833 and the Battle of Vuelta de Obligado occurred on November 20, 1845 against French and English. That destroyed any hope of winning the hearts and minds of the Argentines .
We are very proud of our president, who in spite of British aggression, continues to promote peace and dialogue among peoples. If you still have doubts read the historical statements of our presidents in the United Nations and you'll notice.
    Thank you very much.

1806, 1807, 1833 and 1845? So that's nothing relevant for 166 years and you're still harping on about it.

And then you're surprised when the Islanders don't trust Argentina or welcome you after 29 years?

Would you please specify what this British aggression is? Are we threatening Argentina? Do we threaten Argentina with invasion? No.
We have troops on the islands because after what happened in 1982 we cannot trust you. These troops are not here to invade Argentina, and if you do not try anything militarily then theyn will not hurt you. If you should try to invade, then we will have demostrated how right we were to keep them there.

Argentina on the other hand, is actively trying to economically blockade the islands, making life difficult for ships attempting to reach them and seizing shipments of pipes destined for the Islands legitimite oil exploration.

Could you please provide some link showing any form of aggression from the UK towards Argentina in the last 150 years?

They are all balmy and have to dig up 200 + year old material. They are just jealous that while the Anglo-sphere nations have prospered, the Hispanic nations have gone from one tin pot regime to another. They would have been far better off under British rule, we would have granted them dominion status and today they could be a functional democracy, rather than just another jacked up South American failing state with an inferiority complex!

Argentina meanwhile, is actively trying to blockade the islands, making life difficult for ships to try to reach them and seize shipments of tubes for oil exploration in the islands give legitimacy.

Dear 10 SamSalzman: Argentina is demanding to be fulfilled “10 United Nations resolutions have called for the UK to sit down and negotiate on our sovereignty,” and is an obligation of all members to accept the resolutions of the UN General Assembly . Fishery resources and oil are suitable for those who illegally have no rights.

Could you give some kind of link that shows any form of aggression in the UK to Argentina in the last 150 years?
Dear Zeth: With all due respect, read the history of relations between Argentina and the United Kingdom and one will notice. Four British invasions (1806.1807.1833 and the Battle of Vuelta de Obligado occurred on November 20, 1845 against French and English. Are samples of colonialism and imperialism do not tell you anything?

A confession of relay testing parts of colonialism and imperialism.

It's pathetic and pitiful sustain and continue with colonialism and imperialism of the United Kingdom in the 21st century.

    Thank you very much.
