There are TWO thing that cannot be private in a nation, Health care and Education and here we have a clear exmple of privatized education... Chileans have to ''morgage'' there lifes to go to a university in witch the education is one of the worst!

public provision should not preclude private agencies offering private schooling.
State should fully-fund the public provision, and the private at the margin only.
People paying for the sending their children to private schools should ALSO pay the standard rate for the public provision.

@Rubin84 - I disagree with you. Why cant public and private education run parralel? There are thousands of private courses, eg. in the IT industry that provides good qualifications and careers too many. Why destroy that? The top Universities in the world are mostly private ones. Why? The student movement is destroying democrasy in Chile. Why dont they vote for parties with their political views on Education instead of trying to bring the current administration to a fall? And if there are no parties with the right view points then start a new one.Should this protest succeed what will be next? Is this now the accepted way to bring change instead of the ballot box? State controlled education only can be abused by politicians for their purposes. Having both private and state education creates competition and balance.
