We all wish Tim(nice-but-dim) all the best with his future planning applications in the Gower penninsular and I wonder if there is a home grown Falkland Islander with enough intelligence to take on the job or do the Falklands have to spend another 1/2 million on an ex-pat chancer ?

This has been on the cards for a while. He already had his contract extended beyond the usual four years. I don't think there is much of a story behind this.

When he is replaced ....how much will the recruitment cost, the flights cost, the holidays cost ,the pensions and all the other benefits cost. ? Probably about £350,000 more than a home grown candidate who actually knows what he is talking about from day one. Then future generations would have something to aspire to......Go on Legislative Assembly...trust yourselves.

Mr James Peck's life, is a perfect example of what happens when you get into bed with an Argentine ! Anyway, apparently he is making a small fortune by buying Argentinians for what they are worth and selling them for what they think they are worth.

    Hmmmmmmm…………..

    What’s happening in Malvinas?

First, Chief Medical Officer, Roger Diggle leaves the Islands in favour of the buzzing, vibrant and sparkling social life of the Shetlands.

And now, the Malvinas Islands Government Chief Executive Dr. Tim Thorogood leaves “for personal reasons”.

Any insider information, gossip or juicy tittle-tattle will be appreciated………

#11 Visquaterland, you seem like jokes ......

Tells the story that there was a person who was able to predict, in the middle of a flight, where exactly they were flying just getting his arm out the window of the plane.

On a flight that was full of passengers, the story goes that this man drew his arm out the window as usual, and after a few moments thinking he said......hmmm we are going through Paris .....and How you know that ?? asked the other passengers. Easy, he said ..... i just touched the tip of the Eiffel tower.

After a while and still in the middle of flying, again the man pulls his arm out the plane and after few moments thinking he said......hmm we are going through Egypt right now .....and How you know that ?? asked the other passengers. Easy, he said ..... i just touched the tip of the Cheops pyramid.

After a while ..... this man decides to take his arm again out the window's plane and after a moment thinking he said..... hmm ..... we are going through the United Kingdom and exactly in London, England.

Of course !!! said all Passengers together...... surely you touch the tip of the Big Ben tower ???

No, says the man ..... someone just steal my watch.

LET US USE THIS BOY FOR OUR PROPAGANDA!

HIS FATHER A TRAITOR OF THE MALVINAS WAR FIGHTING FOR BRITISH. IF HE WAS NOT DEAD HE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO LIVE WITH WHAT HE HAD DONE, BETRAYING HIS COUNTRY. BUT JAMES PECK IS A REAL HERO UNLIKE HIS TRAITOR FATHER.

JAMES PECK IS A GREAT PATRIOT.

I JUST HOPE HE DOES NOT CHANGE HIS MIND BECAUSE HE IS NOW A CENTRAL TOOL OF OUR PROPAGANDA CAMPAIGN.

WHO CARES FOR HIS LIFE@? WE DO NOT. WE WILL USE THIS PIRATE TO OUR CAUSE NOW. LAS MAVLINAS PIRATES GO TO HELL.

WE LAUGHT AT YOU. I WANT TO LAUGH AT YOU ALL AS YOU ARE FORCED OFF YOUR LANDS.

I GO TO ZIMBABWE TO LAUGH AT YOUR COLONIAL COUSINS BEING BEATEN OFF THEIR FARMS. THESE FARMS GO TO ZIMBABWE MILITARY AND POLITICAL ELITES, JUST AS YOUR LAND WILL GO TO OUR ELITES!

WE HAVE A LONG HISTORY OF FASCISM!

    WE ARE VERY PATRIOTIC!

“PATRIOTISM IS THE LAST REFUGE OF SCOUNDRELS” - SAMUAL JOHNSON BUT HE WAS AN EDUCATED MAN. WE DON'T CARE FOR THAT WE WILL FOLLOW OUR EILTES CALL TO HAMMER YOU NIGHT AND DAY. WE WILL DREAM NIGHT AND DAY ABOUT OUR ISLANDS YOU OCCUPY. WE KNOW NONE OF THIS MAKES SENSE IN OUR HEART OF HEARTS BUT WE HAVE BEEN CONDITIONED FROM BIRTH THAT THIS IS RIGHT.

WHO CARE THAT WE ARE WRONG? HITLER WAS WRONG TO INVADE POLAND, CZECHOSLOVAKIA, AUSTRIA, HUNGRY, NORTH AFRICA, FRANCE, NORWAY, HUNGRY, ROMANIA, RUSSIA, LITHUANIA, ESTONIA, UKRAIN, LATVIA, BULGARIA, YUGOSLAVIA, GREECE AND ITALY?

    HITLER IS OUR HERO!

    Because we aren't surprised.
Because Chief Executives come and go on fairly short term contracts.
    Because we aren't that bothered.
Because he's given plenty of notice and another one will be appointed.

It's still not much of a story, is it?

and how come he is over London after Egypt,
and you missed the end bit,
he put his arms out of the planes window for the last time and said, [shit]

No, he's a civil servant, appointed by FIG. You don't have elections for civil servants. They are government employees.
And it's none of your business.

He is a Chief Exec, that is head of the civil service. Civil Servants don't get elected!

You live in a “country” that has had more military rulers and General as Presidents than civilians, a land where democracy developed late and failed to catch on. Now you just have dynasties and Presidents than seem to go on until death, arrest or military coup!

Have another cigar, dream about the war you lost, think about the war crimes you committed and die. That's the best thing you can do for the world Marcos. Do it a favor.

Marcos - just how many times does it have to be explained to your tiny brain that the Governor is the Queen,s representative in the Islands. He has NO VOTING POWER. That all lies with the Elected members .
Just the same as the Queen in UK and Parliament - hell next you will be saying that UK is not a democracy!!!!
Yes HE signs the Acts or Bills to make them law after they have been checked out for correct legal wording and to comply with UK laws where relevant etc.
That is actually done also because under UN LAW - UK is responsible for the oversight of “Good Governance” in the Islands and has to report on such back to the UN. You see the UN actually RECOGNIZES UK as the effective “owner” of the disputed Islands.
All UK does through the Governor - is check that what our elected member approve is democratically legal and fair and nothing corrupt is going on .
I accept though that avoiding corruption is pretty alien to Argentine Governments!

35 Islander1 Sorry, Britain is not the best example of a democracy.

    Marcos, #37,
looking into this, I find corruption absolutely miniscule compared to eg Maluf, and the Brasilian grandees - and I make no comparison with other South American nations much higher up the Corruption league table, where immunity, impunity and massive theft from the people is documented as being even higher again.
Please get some sense of perspective.

Agree with Briton, seems Arg is getting desperate & making much a do about nothing.
The guy resigned, end of his contract, finito.

I see many Argies refering to democratically elected & appointed, the chief exec is a civil servant & would be interviewed like any other Gov employee.

Now my Argie friends, I wonder how many millions of votes CFK has bought? Argie democracy my arse!!!
