We re still the largest shareholders in all of the international banks and we are finally shutting you mouthy peasants down. I would bet the next step is to instruct the Fed not to make xfer's of loan proceeds to Arg. Ouch that's gonna hurt next year.

    I guess you shouldn't have boarded our military plane...payback is a b*tch.

Um, are the Argentine posters suggesting that they should not repay the debts they owe? It was that kind of thinking that preceded the crisis ten short years ago.

It would be foolish to underestimate the influence of the US. They are still the only economic superpower.

The next big movie in argentina next year is going to be called “Out of Control Inflation - Economic DOOM 2012” It will have argentine experts talking about the mayan calander prophecies connections with their economys destruction due to out of control inflation and internest rates.

Truth it its nothing to do with the mayan calander, but everything to do with lack of international fundind and a result of their protectionism methods directed at stopping all imports of goods, when they do not have the infasture to manufacture such currently imported goods of the international funding they rely on to pay for such developments of infastructure.

But hey, no doubt the argentines will be brain washed in to believe the governments stories of the mayan calender and the world as we know it ending in december 2012. No doubt 1,000 year from now they will still believe it was the prophecy of the mayan calender that led to the end of the world as they knew it. At not realize they were actually in economic oblivion like zimbawe was a few years back and still is lol.

    Chuckle Chuckle :))

And theres argentina government really believing the US actually likes them lol

What is the need to go against the US? I never understood it . I understand that the US foreign policy to South and Central America in the 80's was not the best but we live in different times now. Am I wrong?

We can't blame the “evil” Empire for all our problems, right?

Argentina is a wonderful country, but with terrible governments throughout history. It's not all their fault. I don't blame the people for their junta's war of aggression in the 80's against the Falklands. But Nestor was sooo proud of himself when he told the IMF to go to hell. Past governments can rack up outrageous debts and then expect the next administration to pay. Nestor's solution was to not pay, and that created new problems. Inflation out the wazoo and unyielding poverty are only compounded in a nation where the vivenza criolla means that you should take yours and a little more and try your best to get away without contributing anything.

I hope that the Argentines will pay the Paris Club back in full, rejoin international markets, and beat the pants off the Brazilians for the spot of number 1 economic powerhouse in South America. There isn't a plan B for them. Lord knows they have the talent, the resources, the capital (or at least they would if they played international finance like gentlemen), and the strategic geography to be more than just a token G20 member. The wasted opportunity can and should be their motivation, but alas, they tread water. Import substitution and protectionism make all Argentines poorer over time. They desperately need productivity, and a functioning and independent financial system to allocate their labor and capital, instead Moyano's son gets rich through his Swiss bank account. Why are Argentinians not ashamed of their standing in the world, when they consider their potential? Che, que lastima!

You try hard to look as somebody that knows something about Argentina but you fail miserably.

    1) Argentina defaulted two years BEFORE Nestor Kirchner assumed the presidency. It was not his solution.
    2) Nestor Kirchner paid every cent due to the IMF and first then he told them to go to hell. I was proud that day too.
3)You speak about the ”Viveza Criolla” as if you where an ”Insider”…. Next time try, at least, to spell it right….. It’s “VIVEZA”; not “VIVENZA”
    4) Qué lastima Che… indeed.

    @16

One thing he is right about, Moyano and Co are making a lot of money and is not because he is working hard or better said , “hardly working” . :-)

When you get U$3Billion unaccounted slush fund from underestimating tax revenue there is plenty to skim off for everyone and it buys LOTS of votes!
