    @#1

Don't worry the islanders and us brits will continue to celebrate, as the party will never be over - As the islands have always been british and will always remain british.

I would love to know what you think argentina can do to try stop the party, as from what i have seen, they do not have many options left and non of those options would succeed either. Bring on the ICJ - Oh i forgot argentina does not recognise the ICJ's jurisdiction, because they (argentina) know they would lose!

This never ending party is just that, never ending, I understand even the Argentine ban on chartered flights to the Islands will be side-tracked by 2015, as they will be routed elsewhere.

The party might last forever, or not... who knows.

Given the distribution of power, there´s not much Argentina can do... we agree on that. That´s the reason of this lasting party. But things change with time, powers decline and Empires sucumb...

Bringing this matter to the ICJ is not convenient to Argentina, neither to the UK...

the empire was given back before i was born,
and argentian power has declined since 1982,
but to be fair she has purchased 2 rowing boats for coastal patrol .

Remote UK island colony of St Helena to get airport

A remote British Island where the French Emperor Napoleon was exiled is to get an airport, the International Development Secretary has announced.

After the airport opens in 2012, those who want to visit the island by air will have to go to South Africa first.

The £200 million airport will be built by South African company Basil Read and financed by the UK government.

The Saint Helenean Airport will open up a whole economic chapter for the islanders cheaper goods from South Africa and far better access to growing economies, Argentina is close to becoming a complete irrelevancy in the Islands economy, the only affect the country has now is to offer an interesting side show....

St Helena may also be used as a transit point for chartered flights to the Falkland Islands...

    Never mind malvineroi,,,,,,,,,,
we don’t blame you for being envious of the greatest country on the planet, we don’t blame you for wishing you to, could be British,
but alas that’s life, but you carry on doing the good work, and spend your money on education education and education, and in a few more decades, Argentina will be ready to join the rest of the free world, instead of indoctrinated intelligence,,,,,,,,,,, Argentina is destroying all the good will of the decent argentine people,, sadly another great peoples, led by a donkey, and a few silly bloggers, , [stand up decent argentine people,
think of all the great things that are going to south Africa, soon everything from UK and EUROPE will go via south Africa to the Falklands, and Argentina will go ??, its your country,
    Good luck malvinero,

Quite Correect Wireless, it would be a far more viable option if Flights to the Falklands were routed through Saint Helena that way with an increase in tourism to Saint Helena would make it far more viable than the current air bridge, and probably more so if the flights would go to South Africa, Namibia, Cape Verde or Bermuda first.

Lets not forget that this will also change the fortunes of Tristan De Cunha.....

Malvineroi, Let me assure you that we do have money to spend on healthcare and education. The reason why at least one of my parents is here today and why I spent seven years of my life in state primary education. And at the end, we still have a few billion left over for some nice shiny new jets and carriers.
I would suggest Argentina spend some more money helping the slum-dwellers in Buenos Aires before buying yet another second hand rusting hulk to add to the ARA's collection.
