Planning Minister, Julio De Vido said that “Argentina is again aiming at the long term and this is only possible due to the numerous productive projects” in the country and the close articulation between the State and industry.
Addressing the annual conference of the powerful manufacturers’ lobby, Argentine Industrial Union, De Vido underlined that “it is crucial to have an articulated strategy between the State and the industrial sector” and strongly defended a leading role for the State.
“The State role is fundamental for this relationship as markets working under no state control or regulations only lead to economic disasters like the one we all went through in 2001, and is currently happening globally”.
The minister added that “public and private investments have played a multiplier effect role for both the growth of the industrial activity and employment.”
“The strategic confluence of capital, labour and the State allows for sustainability when thinking of economic development with social justice and fairness” and for this what is needed “is long term planning and the State as guarantor of such undertaking to ensure development”, pointed out De Vido who is also a close aide of President Cristina Fernandez and has been tipped for the job of cabinet chief.
