The Russian government approved import quotas for meat in 2012, according to a resolution published on Tuesday, reports Meat Trade Daily.

Imports of chilled beef were set at 30.000 metric tons, of which 29.000 tons was allotted to the European Union, according to the resolution. It was dated Monday and published on the website of the government newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

The quota for frozen beef was fixed at 530.000 tons, with the EU and the US allocated 60.000 tons each.

Limits also were set at 400.000 tons for pork, 30.000 tons for pork trimmings, 250.000 tons for frozen chicken parts and 10.000 tons for frozen boneless turkey meat. The quota for boneless frozen chicken was fixed at 70.000 tons, including 56.000 tons from the EU.
