Chile denies ‘media rumours’ of Argentine sea and air blockade to the Falklands
Chilean Foreign Affairs minister Alfredo Moreno denied rumours that Argentina had requested Chile to join a blockade of the Falklands Islands and also reassured that the government of President Cristina Fernandez has not questioned the commercial air link between Santiago and the Islands. I think that the question should be when will the idinenous peoples of the occupied colonial territory now knon as Argentina be permitted full sovereignty over their illegally confiscated and occupied lands and natural resources. I think that matter needs to be addressed before dealing with the previously unoccupied Falkland Islands.

I still don't understand how anyone can credit Ms Kirchner's portrayal of herself and/or Argentina as the victim of “British militarisation” given these measures. William wandering around in a search and rescue helicopter does nothing to hurt Argentina, and neither does replacing an old warship with an up-to-date one. But the actions described at the end of the article seem purpose-built to hurt the islanders in whatever petty ways the current Argentine administration can get at them.

I am guessing that she changed her mind when it was pointed out to her how bad it would make her government look to the rest of the world. That and I am certain Chile would not play ball. That pantomime she staged last week was in anticipation of something more but I suspect the script had to change at the last moment, hence everyone calling it pointless.

Your Commente, rumour has it that CFK did try to put the economic blackmail screws on Lan before her big speech - they said no - that left her with bugger all to say really! It should be compulsory education in Argentine schools to learn about their country recent history, instead of teaching lies about the Falkland Islands (the imaginary Malvinas - which Argentina has NEVER had sovereignty over).
