This sounds like Germany during the Weimar Republic, but without all the good stuff like art and culture... then Hitler came into power and tried to annex countries around them.

Most likely they like to ignore problems with internal affairs or pretend there are no problems.

Well GreekYoghurt, with your last comment here you showed the ignorant troll that you are. Good job at raising the stature of your country with your level of maturity here. Actually, you would fit in well in the CFK gov, we could both agree.

@5 It's not trolling when one can clearly see two countries at different points in history having similar policies of geographic expansionism and ethnic cleansing, to the detriment of the local population. Just read about the Japan–Korea Treaty of 1910 or the Annexation of the Sudetenland in 1938.

If that's trolling for you, then I can see you having difficulty communicating with other humans.

Greek its actually a lot worse than normal trolling to make false and frivolous accusations of “ethnic cleansing”. Yes there are historical similarities between militarist Japan and Nazi Germany and they eventually became allies; that is not relevant to discussion of the peaceful, leftist humanitarian Cristina.

Actually with a “Greek” name you might want to look close to home for “historical parrallels”: Greece today = Argentina 2001 perhaps. Lets hope Greece follows Argentina's later trajectory too if it wants to recover from this banker inflicted crisis.

@7 Peaceful people don't engage in historical revisionism to say that you own some land that you don't own and then enshrine it in your constitution to say that you're going to do whatever it takes to get that land. That's what dictatorial and typically authoritarian governments do. Yes, your president is looking to change the constitution to create a north korean style presidential dynasty, and yes, you do have a goebellian ministry of information that runs your newspapers.

Supported by widespread public support, Argentina illegally annexed Chilean land in 1978, and tried to annex the Falklands in 1982. In the latter case they got rightfully expelled.

The Argentinian government is a) authoritarian b) nationalistic c) socialist. These three are the main constituents of Nazism, but also shared by some curious brands of socialism such as Kim-Il-Sungism.

I frankly don't understand what you're using to qualify your use of the term peaceful nor humanitarian. Are you giving reference to the economic blockade that they've placed on the populous of the Falkland Islands? That in itself is neither peaceful, not humanitarian.

Carry on, with your curious Argentinian cognitively-challenged ways.

You are out near Mars orbit.

There is no ethnic cleansing in Argentina. Even the useless UN would have something to say if there was such a situation right? Lie number 1.

Argentina will not be annexing anyone, it doesn't want to nor does it have the capability. Lie number 2.

We can say whatever about CFK and the politicians, but Argentina's culture has flourished in the last 10 years (nothing of CFK's doing). Film, theater, art, reappreciation of native culture, are much better today than in the 1990s. And women's representation is up, gay rights have been achieved, and immigrants are getting more benefits, minority population of chinese, africans, etc is growing, etc, there are more ethnic festivals even in Mendoza I can name you an American food festival, Bolivian carnival, italian and french culture week, Chilean independence week in September, etc, etc, etc. So your statement “no arts and culture”, lie number 3.

I can't communicate, lie number 4. I speak your language better than you can (I just have decided to speak the common tongue).

    Off you go.

@9. Argentina's culture of corruption and inflation denial is very reminiscent of Weimar Germany. Or will you deny that too?

@9 Yes, there is absolutely no ethnic cleansing of the indigenous population of Argentina (http://www.amnesty.org/en/region/argentina), and it has never happened in Argentina's past (http://www.amnesty.org/en/region/argentina), and I'm a shoe made out of ice-cream.

Funny how pretty much every Argentinian who comments here has the suggestion of a systematic post-annexation return of the Falklanders to the UK, and ironic that they don't understand that this is ethnic cleansing.

Yes its clear now that Argentina is on a one way street to fascism and genocide! Of course there were also negative stories too on the country roundup page Amnesty has for Argentina (no-one's saying its Disneyland!), but Amnesty does the same reporting on every country, icluding http://www.amnesty.org/en/news/argentina-convicts-former-military-officials-%E2%80%98dirty-war%E2%80%99-crimes-2011-10-27

#9 Very well put except ”Argentina's culture has flourished in the last 10 years (nothing of CFK's doing)” is I think a bit unfair to the leader who (along with nestor of course) fixed the economy and caused the socially inclusive boom in which context culture has flourished. Cristina also took a courageous stand in favour of the advances in gay rights that you mentioned, and her very presence as a strong and iconic leader is a testament to the advance of women.

To be fire, if she goes on like she is, then she will drive Argentina backwards back into a dictatorship,
And then drag a once proud country back into conflict, and of course the innocent British will get the blame,

But then Britain is getting used to 3rd world states blaming them for other peoples incompetence’s.

Like you elaineB,yoghurt post much rubbish without any purpose other than anti-Argentina.That's good but it has no content that is worth noticing. He can't find books and loves the Argentinian people.Or do you no longer care about the people of Argentina has you repeatedly claimed in the past.

@16 Trying another character assassination because you do not like the content of his posts? That seems to be the standard MO.

I enjoy the company of Argentines; they are without exception kind and friendly to me. I have no respect at all for the government of Argentina that manipulates and robs the people without shame.
