Shocking incident. Hopefully the tragedy might lead to an improvement in the Argentine rail network.

Lets hope the injured recover and no more people lose their life.

Looking at the recent safety performance (or lack of it) regarding Argentina transport systems, as a professional engineer I would really want to know what is going to be improved and by who and by when before I used the rush hour trains (and buses).

This tragedy started with Menem's government. He sold every stated-owned company with the excuse of economic deficit and inefficient services and NOW with the private companies we are spending more money than before and services are worse!
Government should kick out those responsibles of all this and nationalize the services.

@7 Why didn't the uber efficient government do something about this chronic neglect over the last two and a half presidential terms? I reckon they are culpable.
What was the result of them going after the previous minister who had been taking massive kickbacks from TBA?.... the one with the Learjet, big motor yacht in Brazil, etc etc?
As I recall the government subsidy to TBA was being split three ways, half for the minister, half for TBA management and the rest being spent on maintaining the railways....
