Morrissey has waded into the row over the Falkland Islands telling the audience at an Argentine gig that they belong to you. The former Smiths front-man, who counts Prime Minister David Cameron among his fans, made the remarks during a concert in Cordoba, Argentina. Read full article

Mar 03rd, 2012 - 09:24 am - Link - Report abuse 0I always remember Jamiroquai's first album cover was all about the environment and had an aboriginal australian guy in the group with his didgeridoo. By the fifth album, the money had managed to bend them so much that the environmental cause was lost, with a car featuring on the front cover, the music was fitting ode to 'top gear' and the aboriginal guy had been put out to pasture a long time previously for being too concerned about the environment I guess.
My real worry is if The Singing Corner made a comment, because it would mean they failed in their musical journey (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXi5WDia1VY)
ANNOUNCEMENT BY UN SECRETARY GENERAL BAN KI-MOON
Mar 03rd, 2012 - 09:41 am - Link - Report abuse 0Due to be made later this afternoon, Saturday the 3rd of March, 2012
This has just been leaked on NTPA website and it's brilliant! LOL!
Secretary General ban Ki-moon is about to make an unprecedented announcement, the likes of which the UN has never done before. In a controversial press conference set for 1700 hrs GMT, Saturday the 3rd of March, 2012, the Secretary General is expected to announce that the opening round of the National Tractor Pullers Association Championships scheduled to be held in Pinetops, North Carolina, 18-19 May, should start on the 17th of May and run for a full 3 days instead of the traditional 2 days. It is thought the Secretary General will explain the rationale behind the move which has sent the Pullers Association into turmoil.. When Goose News contacted the NTPA for their reaction, a bemused Chuck Jones, President, said he was at a loss to explain the expected announcement. With all due respect to the wisdom and experience of the UN Secretary General, as far as we can tell, he has about as much knowledge of our famous Pull championships as Sean Penn, Roger Waters and Morrissey have of the Falkland Islands and their dispute with Argentina.

Mar 03rd, 2012 - 10:02 am - Link - Report abuse 0It runs far deeper than that. It seems BKM has his sights set on taking over and controlling the NTPAC and using it as a type of ultimate contest to solve disputes between stets. Apparently Argentina got very excited about this and applied at once to take part in the first ever UN competition; head to head with the Falkland Islands. A rather embarrassed BKM had to call KFC and explain that the competition involved TRACTOR pulling, not just pulling.
@18 I'm not sure I like the idea of KFC and BKM involved in a tugging competition. It's not the kind of visual idea that I like in my head.

When challenged on that he said before the end of the century and then he said he doesn't put time frames on things. LOL!
Keep trying boys. You guys give me so much entertainment that I hardly use Facebook any more. Mark Zuckerberg had better watch out. If the world cottons on to how amusing you Argies are, Mercopress could take over as the world's most used social network site. Chuckle!

Sounds more like a slaughterhouse than a country. Not a real nation, nations are made up of people of a common history and ancestry, where-as all the Argentines have in common is parents and grandparents from Europe - amongst them often a fleeing German, Belgian, Dutch, Croat, Austrian, Italian, Bulgarian, Spanish or Ukrainian Nazi, or Fascist.

I’ve come to the conclusion that Think is insane and is only talking about himself and his own delusions, e.g. actually trying to build up Morrissey into something other than a has-been singer with meaningless left wing views.
@33 Think
“But, you would indubitably be more welcomed if you tried to integrate a little bit instead of playing the pathetic role of an Anglo Know it All”
Think to you, those knowing more than you are pathetic, probably because Argentinians are so used to fantasising, they think, ‘why know anything when you can just make it up’ and others should ‘integrate’ by also knowing no more than them.
@37 The Falklands are British
“Where have all of the machismo Argie Malvinistas gone?”
Probably because there has never been such thing as a machismo Argie, they only appear so when able to outnumber others, but knowing the UK public is taking note at the moment, they have curbed their language.

Learn to read the other sides point of view. Until you are capable of understanding that there are two sides to every argument, then it is pointless me repeating what I've written again and again.
You either understand the principle that people have the right to choose their own sovereignty or you are on the side that believes any nation (for it would not just be your own) can dictate to any other nation or territory who they should be governed by.
The nuclear powers could easily take a cowboy approach, absent international law, to dominate the non-nuclear powers. If Britain was as evil as you say we are, why don't we just threaten to nuke you? The Israelis do this to their Arab neighbors, they don't have nuclear bombs because they do, they have them because they don't and threaten to use them. Britain has never threatened anyone with nuclear weapons.
If Britain was so bad why did w withdraw from Empire? Why do the Empire follow us to Britain? Why did almost every territory ever under British rule join the British Commonwealth? Why do they share our Queen? Because we are evil people and destroyed their land?
No the British did a lot of good in the world and some bad. Just as the Romans brought civiliation to Britain, we brought civilisation to much of the world.
Sure the Spanish want Gibraltar but then Gibraltar has been under the British flag, far longer than it has been under a Spanish flag. It only came under Spanish rule in 1462, the British took it in 1704 and the Spanish ceded it in 1713. The Gibraltarians don't want to live under Spanish rule. Their identity is Gibraltarians. Perhaps Spain should claim Argentina on the basis that she ruled you in the past? What is the difference?

Immediately to be announced on Sunday the 4th of March 2012
This has just been leaked on WIKI LEAKS website and amazing is the only word for it! ROFLMAO!
The President of Equatorial Guinea is due to recite a Unique and alone of its kind statement, the ilk of which the nation of Equatorial Guinea has never seen before! In a provocative lunch meeting set for 1900 hrs GMT, Sunday the 4th of March, 2012, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, the President of Equatorial Guinea, is expected to announce that the opening hours of the Escondido, California record shop, Gary's Record Paradise's annual Scratched Record Fling” event scheduled to be held in Escondido, California, 17-19 April, should instead start upon the 15th of April and run for a total of 5 days as opposed to the time-honored 3 days. Several pundits have mused that the Equatoguinean President will be forthcoming in his explanation behind the statement which has sent Gary's Record Paradise into vitriolic fits of mayhem. When Telemundo News contacted Gary's Record Paradise for their reaction, a deeply preoccupied and incredulous Gabriel Corona, Spokesman, replied that he was puzzled and filled with bewilderment as to the nature of the forthcoming statement. “Pardon me, but where it concerns the appropriateness and understanding of the President of Equatorial Guinea, as far as we're concerned, he possesses about as much foresight about our world-renowned Scratched Record Fling” event as the rock musicians Roger Waters, Morrissey, and the screen actor Sean Penn possess of the Falkland Islands and their long-running dispute with Argentina”.

A few years ago, when Argentina were still going through their winning our hearts and minds phase, they sent us a couple of pop groups. One was an all girl Beatles tribute band. They were OK, but we'd never heard of some of the songs they sang. The other was a ska band, like an Argentine version of Madness. They were furious a) because nobody here had ever heard of them and we didn't know the words to their songs b) they came in mid winter and the weather was terrible, even by our standards and c) they were stuck here for a whole week.

@60 honoria: LOL how can Argentina have a colony when it has never had one and when the Islands are PART OF ARGENTINA!!!
Mar 04th, 2012 - 09:57 pm - Link - Report abuse 0In fact the people living at the islands would immediately have the same wrights that an argentinian have without stop being british.
Some european societies, and specially the british one, have a huge warrior and conqueror history, their success is related to invasions. That is not our story, it is YOUR STORY! It may be hard for some british people to understand it because the live in a warrior state of trance 24/7
British media corporations should stop lying to the world and to their own citizens one day...
We are not the ones militarizing every corner of the world, that's not our shape.
If Malvinas is not a british colony then what is it? :D Her Magesty's forces took control of it, SEIZED THE LAND. I guess the SKY is pink, and George Bush loves democracy :D
@ 62 Kiwisarg: nice pic lol.
@65 Read this very carefully Argentinians:
Mar 04th, 2012 - 10:19 pm - Link - Report abuse 0col·o·ny /ˈkɒləni/
noun, plural -nies.
1. a group of people who leave their native country to form in a new land a settlement subject to, or connected with, the parent nation.
2. the country or district settled or colonized.
3. any people or territory separated from but subject to a ruling power.
4. the Colonies, those British colonies that formed the original 13 states of the United States.
5. a number of people coming from the same country, or speaking the same language, residing in a foreign country or city, or a particular section of it; enclave: the Polish colony in Israel; the American colony in Paris.
IF THE THE FALKLANDS BECAME A PART OF ARGENTINA THEN BY DEFINITION 3 IT WILL BECOME A COLONY OF ARGENTINA.
I know you like all Argentinians are cognitively incapable of understanding basic vocabulary, but it's very clear that the UN Special Committee on Decolonisation is currently allowing the Argentinians to discuss colonising a territory. This is against the charter of the UN and the remit of the UN C24.
I know you don't understand because, let's face it, you're a brainwashed imbecile.

Mar 05th, 2012 - 05:19 am - Link - Report abuse 0There are a lot of lands that have been not only seized, but also got their local and original population expelled by the British Empire!!
And History shows that the UK has changed its arguments a million times to adapt their domain over Malvinas to the times that run...
Different names in different times to keep the same real status...
Don't get angry Lord Ton, if you cannot deal with democracy, freedom, peace, do not get angry... We will still go on defending it, we haven't got other choice. You can insult us, but that shows even more that you can't go very far in a serious discussion...
You run out of facts very fast. You never speak about peace, you never speak about international cooperation, you do not write about equity, about democracy. All you reproduce is the hilarious idea of a threatening Argentina (how funny, calling a threaten a country that has no military power), an ideology that you get from the news that you believe work for you, while all you are doing is giving them your support to go on living on Argentinian resources and on lowest british working classes.

I will use one example of your own dear nation doing something very similar
Conquista del desierto in the 1870's!
Now you want to start again?
What happened
@74 I know. It's hilarious how the Spanish never seem to get any blame for stealing lots of people's land and now becoming bankrupt.
Mar 05th, 2012 - 10:49 am - Link - Report abuse 0The Argentinians refuse to discuss the fact their borders were won through war. They lost a war in 1982 which defines a border. They should learn to live with it.
The simple fact is, we aren't going to give you the islands because they aren't yours. You can claim support from every tinpot, mickey mouse country on Earth and every washed up desperate for attention has been celebrity going. Call us pirates and colonials and whatever you like. The only way you will get them is war and we all know you won't do that because the only country who surrenders quicker than the argies is the French. Now go back to cheating at football, living in your corrupt cess-hole of a country and leave our Falkland Island brothers alone.

Argentine ethnically cleansed its 50% Negro population in the 19C/20C to the point where none remained.
Argentina genocided the political left during the 1970's and early 1980's, killing 100,000 lefists, including their children - who were witnesses to their abduction and had to be eliminated too.
This genocide of the political left started under Eva Peron, who used Argentina's neo-fascist political movement, the AAA to assist military and police RAPE, TORTURE AND MURDER political dissidents and their children.
They have no grave, their bodies dumped into the Atlantic Ocean. Their families still can not find closure.
Children under 2 years old were given to families loyal to the regime. Most are still unaware of their family history.
When the Falklands was invaded, Argentina was at the hight of this genocide and child abduction campaign, under the leadership of a fascist military junta, their hands covered in the blood of their own people.
They has sold Argentina out to America, who had initiated Operation Condor (google it) as a means to control left wing political opposition throughout Latin America, so their corporations could plunder the continent.
Vermin - like the rest of nationalist Argentina, you're more occupied with the Malvinas and hatred for Britain, than the real political enemies of your country.
Christina Kirchiner's hero is Eva Peron, who she styles herself and her party on. Peronism is the political philosophy of your government, it's origins began in fascist Italy, where Juan Peron visited in the 1930's and brought back the ideology of Mussolini - which he dressed up and called Peronism.

By the way, have any of you watched The Iron Lady film? Can any of you remember me what was the reaction of her fellow (traitor) tories sitting at the Commons as well as of others from other Parliament parties, as to the 'eyes of the world' in respect of the Baroness decision to launch an attrition attack to a country that was the actual owner of the sovereignty?
(On the other hand, she did what she had to do mainly because it was a matter of honour and, in this, she 'outegged' by far all the Conservative, Liberal and Labour men put together)
Canvassing for Ted Heath in 1970 was not as good as canvassing for her in 1979...

Mar 06th, 2012 - 05:07 pm - Link - Report abuse 0”have any of you watched “The Iron Lady” film?
Answer –No, apparently it’s anti-Thatcher and very misleading, like so much that comes out of Hollywood.
“Can any of you remember me what was the reaction of her fellow (traitor) tories sitting at the Commons as well as of others from other Parliament parties”
I remember it very well and the WHOLE House of Commons was behind the Government throwing the Argentinians off the Falklands
The problem is YOU appear to have no sources of accurate information.
The Smiths were a good band, but in the past three decades that clowning ponce has produced nothing but ****, including his latest outburst. He supported the disinterment of a dead grandmother and her body being held to ransom, as a protest against a guinea pig farm. He called the Chinese people sub-humans, now he wants 3000 people to be made homeless and their islands to be colonised by a foreign nation 300 miles away. A complete **** wit, if ever there was one.
Mar 06th, 2012 - 08:10 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Dear Redcoat, what you didn't know but will learn now, is that i) I'm a member of the CP of GB since 1969; ii) Enoch Powell signed his book 'Fredom and Reality' and presented it to me, whilst we were both attending a dinner at the Junior Carlton, in April, 1970, where I was asked to address the members in connection with problems that Ted Heath would meet in the event of beating Harold Wilson, which he eventually did, and iii) that I was living/staying in England (mostly in London and some days in Painswick, Glos) both when the Baroness was elected PM and when she was booted out by chicken of her own party. Thus, son, some of my sources are personal experience and you are dealing with a very peculiar Argie that spent quite a while meddling with British politics. Fortunately the word 'appear' saved you. And, btw, the House wasn't at all happy with her decision but endorsed it anyway.
Mar 06th, 2012 - 08:50 pm - Link - Report abuse 0You may be right, however, as regards 'The Tones'
Cheers!
What? I must have missed something. I'm old enough to remember the last time Argentina tried to take possession of the Falkland Islands. I clearly recall the British Parliament and the British public, regardless of political affiliation, being wholeheartedly in support of Thatcher's stance on the sovereignty and liberation of the Falkland Islands. Even Michael Foot supported her. I detested the woman and still do to his day. Her callous attitude in general, and her imploring us to rejoice at the (albeit necessary) sinking of the Belgrano, and consequent tragic deaths of hundreds of unfortunate Argentine conscripts, sickened me to the core. However, at the end of the day she was right about the Falklands. Galtieri and his sorry cronies coldly calculated that Britain would not, or could not, rescue the Islands from his sneak invasion and occupation. He was sadly mistaken. The rest is history.

Now there’s a surprise, you’re a member of the Communist party, so of course you would have noticed all those MP’s that were against throwing the Argentinians off the islands, but the overwhelming majority were for it.
I only really remember one of the dissenters, Tam Delle (a sincere humanitarian) who said the British were going to a watery grave. He was wrong, as hardly any of them drowned, but I do respect him for his concern.
As for Thatcher, they got rid of her because she was becoming a liability, nothing else.
I agree with Alexei ‘s sentiments @85 about her and still don’t like her, but I am tired of Hollywood injecting their own personal bigotry into their films.
Whether you meddled in British politics or not; the word ‘appears’, still applies, but could relate to your ability to grasp what was, actually going on around you.
I have to assume that as you weren’t unhappy about her decision, you imagined there were more like yourself than there were.
I take it that ‘The Tones’ relates to the tones in the film ‘Iron Lady’
Someone who knows nothing about real Argentinians and bangs out the Malvinas issue in order to woo a crowd ............ he should be in the Pink House.

Mar 07th, 2012 - 09:19 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Sorry for 'The Tones' reference. I meant it for 83 but forgot to mention it.
85 You can't eat eggs without cracking shells. All in all, Thatcher's government was one the best Britain ever had. You may not like her ways, her mood or attitude, but she ought to be like that to survive and command in a world of men who despised her for not being 'one of them' (how stupid) since the very moment she stepped in the room for the first time. If our plastic Queen had only a tenth of the bollocks the Iron Lady had in her time, our story would have been different.
Be good.
Oh! I've heard today that the F'I's Governor would accept talking about the Argentinian flights? What do the islanders think of it? Don't tell me they're going to ask for military reinforcements, please :-D

No it isn't, CP can mean a number of things, but it is not in general use in Britain for the Conservative Party and as you were implying many people were opposing the re-taking the Falklands, that was the likes of the Communist party, so make yourself clear and stop giving false impressions
Oh! I've heard today that the F'I's Governor would accept talking about the Argentinian flights?
No they want to say in person:
Until Argentina changes it's constitution, stops brainwashing their children and accepts they have no rights whatsoever over the Falklands and will NEVER have, all such offers will be considered a poisoned chalice
