Uruguayan Foreign Minister Luis Almagro backed Argentina’s controversial decision to nationalize the country's biggest oil company YPF arguing countries’ right to recover a strategic market is “indisputable”. Read full article
We support Argentina ... but they deserve everything that comes their way.
And the really tragic thing is that there are Argentinians who can't read between the lines of diplomatic speak and actually do interpret that as a statement of Uruguayan support LOL
Actually, Uruguay will probably suffer more than most in SA when Argentina implodes - they've learned a lesson from 2001, but still haven't been able to disengage enough. And yes, I agree that Sr. Almagro's comments are typical diplomatic language for We have to live next door to these loonies, so we can't condemn them outright.
I'm not denying that a country has a right to nationalise any industry it likes - most countries in Europe have done it, but it's the way Argentina has done it that's wrong (plus the fact that they forced Repsol into the lack of investment in the first place)
backing them up with words,mmmm
but backing them with action may be another thing,
question,
will Uruguay nationalise something, to provide solid support,
or just leave at this .
I live in Uruguay and hate the fucking Mad Bitch of Argieland with a vengeance because of all the shit she is throwing our way in an attempt to destabilise the country.
If ever things turn out like 2001 again and my wife and me end up losing the value of our investments through this cow, I just hope she has a good bodyguard around her - out to 1,000 yards.

“If tomorrow Spain’s national government wishes to nationalize or expropriate Repsol, we would support that decision,”
