    A good suggestion from Uruguay, if Lugo can't be restored then this is the best way forward out of the crisis. Would Lugo be able to stand, now he's not the incumbent?

    The left wing kooks in the region are starting to sweat a little. Maybe they are next. It is time for Botox Evita to go. Can the Argentines learn to use the guillotine? It would be an ideal place for fat Maximo.

    The impeachment has also been opposed by right-wing Piñera of Chile, as the process didn't comply with the conditions put forward by the country's constitution. But I know where you're coming from wesley. You have few keys on your piano and that's why you can only assess political events by making some idiotic dichotomy between 'right' and 'left'.

    @3 You'll have to explain how the impeachment didn't comply with the conditions put forward by the country's constitution, that says:

    Article 225 About Procedures
    (1) The president of the Republic, the vice president, cabinet ministers, justices of the Supreme Court of Justice, the attorney general, the public defender, the comptroller and the deputy comptroller general of the Republic, and members of the Superior Electoral Court may be forced to undergo impeachment proceedings for malfeasance in office, for crimes committed in office, or for common crimes.
    (2) The Chamber of Deputies, by a two-thirds majority, will press the respective charges. The Senate, by a two-thirds absolute majority, will conduct a public trial of those charged by the Chamber of Deputies and, if appropriate, will declare them guilty for the sole purpose of removing them from office. In cases in which it appears that common crimes have been committed, the files on the respective impeachment proceedings will be referred to a competent court.

    AND

    Article 235 About Causes for Ineligibility
    (1) The following are ineligible to run as candidates for president or vice president of the Republic:
    .............
    5. Ministers or clergymen of any religion;
    ..........................................

    Do you think that someone noticed that Lugo was previously a Roman Catholic bishop of the Diocese of San Pedro when he ran for office?

    It wasn't Jesus who posted, it was Conqueror.

    He is absolutely right, the proceedure followed by the Paraguayan parliament was totally correct, going by their Constitution.

    It is nobodies business but the Paraguayans' what happens in their country, as long as they observe their Constitution.

    The impeachment opened and ended in a single day. Lugo didn't have a chance at presenting a defense before the House or the Senate, as the PY constitution stipulates. That's why the ousting has proven controversial and many from various parts of the political spectrum believe it's illegal. Do you actually think that the leaders of basically all South American countries are raising their voices just for the sake of it? Britard.

    #4,6,7 The text quoted says he has to be tried “for malfeasance in office, for crimes committed in office, or for common crimes”. It doesn't seem even the charges that were put match any of those things!
