Badminton is a game where you place a Malvinista over your knee and spank his tiny pink bottom until he squeals “I love the Falklands” like a little piggy. It's a popular game outside of Argentina.

@23 The earlier and more significant win was getting the Falkland Islands recognised as a national federation within the pan American confederation in the first place (see http://www.badmintonpanam.org/site2012/). Participation in events as a FI team rather than as a British team follows from this less publicly acknowledged success.

Let's hope that Brasil isn't leant-on by other South American nations and has to politely reject the Falklands team.
This would be disastrous for World Cup/Olympics.
It would show that South American sport is 'politicised', with all that follows from that. The Moscow Games shows what can happen.

Call the place whatever you want Malen. We, the Falkland Islanders, will continue to call it the Falklands and there's not a single thing you can do to change that. Anyone who visits the place is visiting the Falkland Islands, that's what's stamped in their passports when they pass though Immigration. The Malvinas is a place that no longer exists. So put that in your pipe and smoke it.

    54 Malen

If one flew into Rosario they may get “Malvinas” stamped in their passport but I doubt it. I can't be arsed to get my passport out of the drawer and have a look but I don't recall the airport name being included on the stamp. Just the city and “Argentina”.

Why have you started saying “Flickinds”? What's the signifance of you saying that you dumb bastard?

Like Westisbest said. Anyone and everyone who enters the islands we're talking about, be it by air or sea, gets “Falkland Islands” stamped in their passport. No exceptions. My friends in the Immigration Department love their stamps. I always plead with them not to stamp my passports because they never last their life before they are too full. They always refuse my request. I also know that they make sure Argentine passports get the heaviest, juiciest ink stamp they can muster up smack bang in the centre of a blank page. It's our way of saying “I love you”.

    57 Malen

Call them whatever you want. Everyone needs a fantasy. Visit them and you get a stamp that says “Falkland Islands”. Whenever I've visited Argentina I've never had the word “Malvinas” stamped, scribbled or written on my passport or on any landing card or travel document. So I'm not sure WTF you're talking about.

Here are two urban myths that I have tested several times and found never to be the case. At least not for me.

Urban myth #1. If you enter Argentina directly from the Falklands, Immigration won't stamp your passport because you haven't actually made an international flight.
I've done it twice and both times my passport got stamped and I was not subjected to any extraordinary treatment. I thought the name Falkland Islands may be crossed out on my landing card and replaced with Malvinas but it wasn't on either occasion.

Urban myth #2. If you call from a pay phone in Argentina to the Falkland Islands you only pay the national rate, not the international rate.
I've tried that several times from different cities and it's also simply not true.

Try something decent Malen. Get somebody with some clout on here for a change. We're getting bored.

Your problem is that you're fanatical about it but you're not competent to do anything constructive. CFK knows what she's doing. She knows you'll never get your hands on the islands. She also knows that every time she goes off on one about it her poor voters all forget about the price of dulce de leche for a few days. It's like throwing a few scraps of bread into a sea of hundreds of sparrows. They all think they're about to get fed.

You can write it in the sky for all we care Malen but they'll still be called the Falklands where it counts, in the Falklands.

Do you notice, that MALEN fantasises about these Malvinas, as much as BK fantasises about CFK,

    Related perhaps,
Or does CFK also live in this fantasy,
    With her trusted lieutenants,

    Still,
You can drag a horse to water,

Are you really that stupid or do you think that your fantasies can become a reality just by reciting a name? Grow the fuck up!! I have entered British River Plate many times yet they keep stamping my passport, “Argentina”, never anything about Malvinas. You can't just keep on making up names to suit your skewed world view, last time I checked the Union Jack was flying proudly just off your coast, its been there for a long time so you might as well get used to it. Hope things are well in British River Plate, or as you call it in South America, Argentina!
