Spanish airline Cosmo which purchased in an auction in Montevideo seven aircraft from Uruguay’s liquidated flag-carrier Pluna said they will be used “to expand the charter flight business in Central and Eastern Europe”, according to an official company communiqué released by the Spanish government news agency EFE. Oct 03rd, 2012 - 10:23 am - Link - Report abuse 0So Pepe and the pillock who heads the ministry of Public Works and is responsible for this fiasco, have learnt (I hope) that making assumptions about the airline business only comes back to bite you.
Oct 03rd, 2012 - 08:33 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Buying seven used CRJ900 Bombardiers for 137 million dollars is very 'ambitious' shall we say when I know for a fact that Bombardier would have sold them brand new planes for that price. Perhaps Cosmo couldn't wait and have the work ready for them.
So, the rest is in the hands of an Argentine who has a chequered reputation for ‘looking after’ his people. I do hope and trust that he can pull off something with the lease planes.
I wonder where the money to start the new company is coming from? At least he will probably be able to fuel up in BsAs and save 40% on the price the previous company had to pay ANCAP for Jet A. That will help the bottom line if nothing else does.

Oct 03rd, 2012 - 08:43 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Don't be a knuckle-head. We are 3.5M people, we don't have trains, why the hell would we need to be airbourne??? Leave that red sector to others, we only need to normalize our flight comminication with Brazil and we'll be all set.

Oct 03rd, 2012 - 09:19 pm - Link - Report abuse 0You obviously have not been keeping up with my original and subsequent posts regarding this.
In fact we are only 3.0 M people and it was a disgrace that Pluna was ever funded in the manner it was.
I made EXACTLY the point about it only being people like you and me who could afford tickets and why should the average Uruguayo have to pick up the bill, then thought to be USD 380M and climbing?
Pepe and the pillock thought they were going to strait-jacket the buyer into taking over Pluna as it was WITHOUT even having routes agreed by the government BEFORE they bought the planes. Stupid decision that.
Cosmo thank God (I am an atheist of course) together with the CEO of the Trust stood by the original remit and took no notice of the pillock and to some extent Pepe. The deal would NEVER have been made on the Public Works terms.
You really do need to get your facts right before calling people knuckle-heads.
Then what are you complaining about? He closed the deal, and acted for the ones that take pride in wings. Everybody is happy, except of you. Seeking happiness is not the same as escaping sadness, I guess...

Briton... If I have to ask the Brits, it's easier to ask them what they aren't good at. The response would be, after correction and critical selection, of course, applicable for wiping my arse with...

Oct 04th, 2012 - 05:10 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Ask Pepe if he is happy.
He thought that some idiot would buy everything on offer and still want to operate out of Carrasco with 900 'workers' and whatever routes he or the pillock in charge of Public Works dictated to them
You still have not read my other posts, including the Uruguayan Business news; otherwise you wouldn't make such nonsensical comments.
And WTF is the Ministry of Public Works doing getting involved in something you need a brain to figure? It seems that our government still haven’t figured out the commercial reality of the country they are running. Pepe of course is famous for saying ‘dictating’. Bit of a slip there methinks.
If you are ever going to make it in the shipping industry you need to get your head around understanding commercial reality instead of this leftist drivel you keep giving everybody.
Peace!
