The problem is that Argentina never seems to have ‘clear long term policies’ - they never seem to go beyond Friday's opinion poll rating.

“Former Argentine central bank president, IMF economist and Bank of England consultant Mario Bléjer”

All it is well explained above.

His master plan for Argentina is to sell Soybean to feed pigs, another super idea from Mario Bros.

The plan should be to use the beans to feed the pigs in Argentina, then to send it to a meat plant and turn it into pork beef with a nice packaging and sell it to the Chinese, etc.

Turn the beans into bio-diesel, make PLA (Polylactic acid) from corn that can be used to make bio polymers that can be used in the textile industry, food packaging, etc.

Hundreds of similar ideas can implemented to turn a commodity with no add value to something that will multiply its value to 10 times.

But not Mario Bros thinks that with just soybean he will turn Argentina into a economy power.

Its that this idiots cannot understand that cultivating like this will produce desertification to the land, will contaminate the land and underground water layers with Agrochemical, etc, etc.

And even not enough the Soy boys want more devaluation of the peso and state support.

Time to get rid of the f@king farmers good for nothing and import food from Africa...

LOL this is a bogus report, the price of soy will collapse next year do to the sudden land slide shift from many other nations like Brazil and Paraguay heading for the same crop. Boosting output of soy will in turn lower international prices. Unless the soy can be transferred to meat production or bio fuels because as we all know meat and energy is more expensive than grains. It might be wise to prepare right now to diversify at any level of production. If it sound too good to be truth for Argentina printed by mercopress, it's an ambush. Good try but we all know Argentina is top food producer, be it soy, sun flower seeds, sugar canes, corn or wheat.

Errr , we are also conveniently forgetting that a lot of the province of Buenos Aires was flooded , so the tonnage will be right down .
No one has the balls to tell TMBOA , so the figures will not tally next year . Oh dear .

There were four vegetables at the store we went to: onion, potato, eggplant, and bell pepper. And my companion didn't know what one of them was. Get some rose-speckled lettuce, rainbow-hued carrots, frisee, deep salty heirloom tomatos in at least twenty, way more flavorful permutations, then start adding some exotics. Would make Argentina even nicer.

This process is already in the works. Argentine agricultural technology, productivity and the quality of the soil is the combination that will guarantee this. Argentina will overtake Brazil eventually bacause of this. Argentine production per hectare will be 3 times that of Brazil. A Chilean farmer I met said that they invest in Argentina because they can produce 10 to 20 times what they can produce in Chile.
I suppose that the secret is “in the dirt”.

Would Argentina really want to be like Saudi though, with Cristina and all other women not even able to drive, not even allowed out of the house without supervision and “protection” from a male realtive who could even be a 6 year old boy?!
