    Supporters have been holding prayer vigils, while opponents also sent Chavez best wishes for a successful recovery.

    As an opponent of his dictatorial 'democracy' I would also like to send him a message:

    Die you bastard, slowly and in immense pain, crying out for Jesus and see how far you get with that.

    Your favourite atheist.

    I will say a little prayer ;) , and hope his cancer makes a full recovery.

    “Your favourite atheist.”

    Ahh, that explains your behavior here. Don't forget, what goes around, comes around, no matter if you don't believe in God and his son Jezus Christ.

    All I can say is that a lifetime living near the equator has prepared him well for the temperatures where he will very soon be going

    If the finest cancer treatment on the planet can't save him, then I doubt that the so called “all loving god” will. Prayer my arse.

    Not looking too good for Chavez right now, I join in wishing him and his family all the best and a speedy recovery.
    Should he recover from this desease he may well tone down his radical policies and become more inclusive, maybe like socialist brazil for example.
    Anyway I wish him luck.

    My best wishes to Mr. Chavez and his family. I have seen him in the news in North American, European and Asian media outlets, big and small newspapers and television channels the same.
    But really, how influential is this south american ¨leader¨and why is he in the news so much? His country is one of the most backward economies in the region, a country that, despite being rich in oil resources, is deeply affected by all kinds of economic malaise, maladministration from their governments, fiscal irresponsibility, lunatic industrial policies that have pushed out manufacturing companies and nationalized many companies. The country exports oil and nothing else and while the man parades in television shows and trips to Havana, his country`s economy limps away to the cliff.
    Brazil is important because of their internal market, their industry, their big economy in the region, and their leaders are respected at home and abroad. Other countries in the region are also important because of their industry, Chile, Colombia, Mexico.
    But this ¨leader¨ has bought his way into world stage and world news wasting away his own country`s riches to prop up his political persona, with clown-like attitudes, television charades and a tragicomical manner of conducting foreign policy. His ¨legacy¨, his vintage socialist-revolution cantata can only go as far and as long as it takes place in third world region, with third world leaders like himself, little banana-republics dictators and ministers dancing around him, like Mr. Castro and others, to the tune of his petro-dollars, and as long as his oil subsidies can buy their dance, because it is only by this illusory means that the man is able to drum up any regional sympathy or support behind him.

    ¨Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player
    That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
    And then is heard no more: it is a tale
    Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
    Signifying nothing.¨

    @4 - Fido

    You'll never get into heaven if you can't even spell Jesus' name correctly.

    Besides, it's doubtful any Catholic will make it to heaven considering you are all constantly breaking the second commandment, and the Catholic church had the audacity to change the commandments, the VERY words of God as revealed to the Prophet Moses, because you wanted to worship craven idols!!!

    So basically the Catholic faith says they believe in God the all knowing and powerful, except that you don't want to follow His commandments. Yup, its a one way ticket to hell for the Catholic faith.

    As for Chavez, I don't wish pain and suffering on anyone, but it's doubtful he'll make a full recovery. All the doctors can do is try to buy him a little more time. Hopefully it will be pain free.

    I don't see why so many wish Mr. Chavez should go to“hell”. He has done nothing to deserve this kind of wish. You should look at your own inner feelings and worry where you are going instead.

    @18 ProRG_Argie

    Well of course you don't understand.

    You have consistently lied on here, you are an argie, not an American.

    As an argie your value judgements are the same as most other people in AG and completely out of line with the civilised world.

    So, what is new?

    #20 - You gotta be joking right?!? That is the most pathetic link anyone has every posted here before. No details, maybe 3 sentences long and coming from CFK.

    First of all, a deal between two governments doesn't mean anything if the market doesn't want to produce automobiles, or worse, if they can't afford them. You need to realize that the government doesn't CREATE wealth, they destroy it. Governments everywhere are horrible managers of money when compared to private companies; if a company makes a bad decision it goes broke (or at least they used to before the government started to bail all of them out), but the government just keeps making the bad decision.

    That is why Hugo Chavez sucks. He has all but killed off private industry, his economy has rampant corruption, freedoms are being stripped away...things are not good there. Things are not too good in all socialist countries, including your dear Argentina. Socialism is a farce. Every socialist country is run by a group of people that live off the backs of other people. They aren't there to do anyone any good but themselves.

    So that is why we had Hugo Chavez, because he what we expect a socialist to be.
