Are we defining 'respect' here as endless rants on the telly about how their presidents are donkeys, how they're cockroaches, etc.

This is all very Argentine to say one thing and do something completely different.

” .. with the government of the US
we are always willing to have the best possible relations based on
    mutual respect and on
    equality conditions”.

“on the basis of absolute respect and non-intervention in the internal affairs of our country”.

    Oh, I see ...
mutual absolute respect, equality and non-intervention.
I guess then that Venezuela will be seeking absolute balance in bi-lateral trade.
Chavez needs to do a bit of homework before advising the acting-President to move Venezuela from being merely 'on its knees' to becoming absolutely prostrated.

I think we can all say that Hugo is most likely dead. He hasn't made a single appearance in about 45 days. Not even giving the thumbs up or anything. Clearly he is dead, brain dead, or in a coma. I wonder what will happen when after 5 months nothing has changed. Will Mercosur suspend Venezuela as was done to Paraguay?

No Venezuela will not be suspend from the Mercosur the Mercosur will dance around the issue and find a venue to let Venezuela stay it is very embarrassing for Brazil to admit a major foreign policy error and all those countries that are Bolivarian how can they be taken seriously negotiating any treaty around the world they cannot be taken seriously to sign any treaty how can you trust them! They broke every single rule of the Mercosur treaty.

I remember when Chavez called Bush a devil, at the UN. Even those who did'nt like Bush called it disrespectful. I remember when Chavez called Obama “the black” back in 2008. Don't worry Venezuela, the US presidents would never call your president publicly a devil or el negro like you did. The US does not do like you do.
