Brazilian congress challenges Justice: votes graft suspects to key posts

The lower chamber of Brazilian Congress voted overwhelmingly on Monday for Henrique Alves to become its speaker, even though he is under investigation for graft. The selection of Alves came after the Senate chose a new leader who is also accused of corruption. Read full article

    Cases investigating the judiciary going back 10 years, and featuring corruption and misuse of public money in particular, should be fast-tracked with all the power that the head of the Supreme Court can bring to bear.
    The judiciary themselves brought the Ficha Limpa into law. It must apply ESPECIALLY to them.
    A continuous life-long appeal process means that the most hideously guilty heathen politicians and lawyers can play the system forever, reaping vast personal reward from 'the system' that never brings such matters to a conclusion, and thus allows the conspicuously guilty to remain amongst the ranks of the mighty-establishment.

    I have fought for years against this. I hate to see this great country back-sliding into the behaviour of the coronels.
