Lourdes Alcorta questioned Peruvian president ‘unconditional’ support for Argentina on the Malvinas issue Lourdes Alcorta questioned Peruvian president ‘unconditional’ support for Argentina on the Malvinas issue

Peruvian lawmaker Lourdes Alcorta openly dissented with President Ollanta Humala latest statements on ‘unconditional support for Argentina and the Malvinas issue”, and called to respect the Falkland Islands referendum next month.

“We have excellent relations with Great Britain and Argentina and these must remain unaltered”, said the opposition lawmaker who added “Peru should not get involved in an internal affair which the same Islanders will resolve in March through a referendum to see what country they wish to belong to”.

Further on lawmaker Alcorta said that the Peruvian government “has given us the idea that Peru is a friend of all countries but I believe that the UK and Argentina have a problem which should be addressed and resolved by the two of them, with no third country getting involved in the issue”

Lawmaker Alcorta in the general election of 2011 supported presidential hopeful and former Finance minister Pedro Pablo Kucxynski, head of the grouping Alliance for the Great Change. Nevertheless Alcorta was elected to Congress with almost 100.000 votes, the woman with the largest support nationwide.

President Humala’s unconditional support for Argentina and the Malvinas sovereignty claim was made last week in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, where he was delayed, because of bad weather, in his visit to Antarctica for the celebration of Peru’s Machu Picchu base 25th anniversary.

    @1

    Lets see... some rogue lawmakers not supporting Argentina on the one hand...

    ...Germany, France, and Italy on the record as OFFICIAL governments/nations saying they don't give a fark if the UK leaves the EU.

    Which is a sign of more disunity... what conclusion would you draw?

    :)
