The Argentine congress is holding on Wednesday an extraordinary session to strongly reject the resounding Falklands/Malvinas referendum in which the Islanders overwhelmingly voted to remain a British Overseas Territory. Two statements have been drafted and will be discussed simultaneously at the Lower House and the Senate. Read full article

Just in case anybody hasn't yet grasped your commitment to democracy and human rights, convene both your Houses of Congress to declare the islanders have no right to be heard.

I have to admit, I lifted that one from the Peronist Book of Top Tips. Here are some more :

Argentines! Demand negotiations by refusing to meet!

Argentines! Insist on dialogue by refusing to listen!

Argentines! Grow your economy by not paying your debts!

Argentines! Repudiate the junta by celebrating the 1982 invasion!

Argentines! Support the Chagossians by demanding the same for the Falklanders!

Argentines! Fight terrorism by chumming up to Iran!

Argentines! Fight terrorism by venerating hijackers!

Argentines! Demilitarise the South Atlantic with a nuclear weapons programme 100% made in Argentina!

Argentines! Reject implanted populations by keeping a European passport!

Argentines! Support Argentina by pretending not to be Argentine!

    ... and so on

“Falklands’ referendum to be condemned by Argentina’s congress two Houses”

Argentine democracy in action yet again!!!

How can you condemn something before you have heard all the “for” and “against” speakers???

“The Argentine congress is holding on Wednesday an extraordinary session”

I should imagine that all the sessions of the Argentine congress are “extraordinary” given the antics of their president.

unless they can back it with action,
they should take a hint and shut up,

all they do is wag their tail,
    and bark.

silly poodle, yap yap yap, thats all they do.

    Desperation heaped on desperation.

For the umpteenth time, a “negotiated settlement to the dispute” does not mean “hand the islands over to Argentina.”

I notice the Argentine press are still gleefully quoting George Galloway. Clearly they don't know much about the old pussycat.

Let them condemn the Universal Right to Self Determination for the Islanders, best thing they can do for the islanders. Shifts the issue from one of sovereignty to one of Human Rights and there is a much larger political will out there, to defend Human Rights than to defend sovereignty issues.

It will certainly sort the wheat out from the chaff, from those who talk a good a good talk and those who actually act on their beliefs. My personal view is that, the lefties who spout the priciple at every opportunity, will find some way to convince themselves and others, that they do not apply in this case. They seem to be very adroit with their principles, altering them at will.

Why not get three houses to condemn this overt expression of democracy? The number matters not.

Frankly I am sick and tired of listening to these stupid, irrational bastards in the 'government' of The Dark Country.

Given the lack of intellect at all levels of her gang of idiots TMBOA must have searched every town and city for the village idiots and had them elected.

Just about sums it up, however, with a little effort, ( and I can't be arsed) we could add to your list for ages except I have better things to do. Just let them continue making idiots of their selves in front of the world who are more quickly than ever catching on to their ranting and raving lies and distortions. The Falklands are British, did they happen to miss the point, so the referendum was not legal, only to them, as it has been given the thumbs up from the inspectors, the UN and many other observers. Stupid bastards are clutching at straws and probably loving the distraction it is causing from their real worries, wake up Argentina, your Government are making fools of you all.

More hot air from Argentina, same old rhetoric. Bloatware for the Rg press to turn into chip wrappers. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house down! They haven't got the message, they aren't listening. It's all Latin chest puffing nonsense from a nation spawned from supporters of racist dictators that went into the dustbin of history.
History will see this as yet another event in Argentinas downward spiral, another wasted oppotunity whipped up by incompetent politicians desperately seaking a refuge when they didn't have any idea how to stop their own rot.
Meanwhile, a small island community enjoys peace, prosperity and looks forward to a bright future.

@18 the contrast in the two nations is incredible for the 21st century, it wont be long before The Falklands and their strong principles for human rights will be sending aid packages to Argentines poor provinces, once KFC's regime has been chased out of town with the loot.

Thank you, argieland. We much appreciate your assistance and support. Always good to see a supposedly “democratic” state rejecting the democratic actions of a people it says don't exist. Even better that they need to have an “extraordinary” special session to do it!

As voting and the will of the people are so unimportant, I'm sure they will be very happy when the next military junta takes over Argentina.

I was on-line now talking to some Argentines via the Clarin website. The vast majority of them are sick and tired of their country's antics and most referred to Argentina as a “dustbin”.

It is clearly ripe for some sort of mass protest or civil disobedience.

The only supporters she appears to have are:

    1. The sycophants in Government who dare not stand up to her,
    2. La Campora, and
    3. Anyone she can buy a vote from.

When are they holding a special session for both houses to reject overt expressions of liberty? no doubt deeming them to be illegal too.

According to the most fundamental principles of international law, accepted by all nations for the past 60 years, it is for the inhabitants of a territory alone to determine how they are governed.
