    Australia is one of those few countries that has stringent safety laws in all 5 areas.

    The number of road related deaths has dropped from 3,798 in 1973 to 3,000 last year. 25% drop.

    That might not sound impressive until you realise that the population has risen from 13.3 to 23.8 million. 80% increase.
